How big of a steal is Jarvis Landry becoming?

I'll be honest. I was out of the country during the draft. Only got service here and there. But when I read we drafted Landry, I fist pumped internationally. Love it

I was mostly pleased that Hickey drafted him for two reasons. The first being that he was billed as a player but fell b/c of lack of timed speed. I like taking those kinds of players when other teams choose to pass. And second, that it showed that Hickey recognized (unlike many) that the WR corps on this team was weak and needed help.

But while I loved the pick, I never imagined Landry would look as good as he does this early. I am extremely excited about his prospects and I hope the sky is the limit for him.

I don't think the WR corps was weak with or without Landry, I just think that Hickey decided to take what he felt like was BPA. It ended up with us having a bit of a roster crunch this season at the WR position, but it's not the worst thing in the world having a worthy guy like Matthews not see much time, because we have a young WR we can rely on for several years in Landry now.

I like Gibson but the main knock on him was that he is made of glass.
I am OK with Landry taking his place.

2nd round pick isnt a steal, but we havent had a 2nd round hit since maybe Chris Chambers but more like Pat Surtain

Landry was a great pick by Hickey. He plays like Wallace and Moreno with passion. I've tried to descrbe his play this year and I came up with "Strong" He plays with force wether it be running after the catch, grabbing the ball out of the air, or blocking. To me, strong fits.
Wallace has passion? I like Landty and Morrno they are responsible for making and Wallace accountable

I like landry alot. I think he will wind up with 750yds 4 or 5 tds on the year. You can tell tannehills getting comfortable going to him lately and at this point the writing is on the wall...gibsons gone next year.

Another guy i like is matthews and id like to see him get some more reps with hartlines disappointing play this year. Im not saying bench hartline im just saying maybe give some of hartlines reps to matthews and put a more physical guy on the outside opposite wallace with landry in the slot.

Landry has been having some good kick returns this year. He worries me a little bit sometimes on punts but he is not a bad kick returner.

He sounds to be a very likeable guy. Weve heard nothing but people going . out of their way to compliment landry. Weve heard about how great his hands are, how smart he is, how tough etc. Hes only going to get better and ive been pleased with what ive seen from him so far.

We need a big physical receiver.

Chambers was certainly a hit, he started at receiver for 5-6 years, and while he wasn't ever a true number one, he was a productive player for a good stretch.

steal? he is our third(ish) wr and was a second round pick.... sounds about right

Agree, The FA and Draft Picks he's brought in have been a breath of fresh air.

I wouldn't use the word "steal," but I thought he was the best pick of the draft back in May, and I still think that's true. Landry could have been a late 1st or early 2nd round pick, so he was great value where we grabbed him.

So was SlimmJr who got to see him up close.... declaring he might end up as one of the franchise GOATS, . loved the James pick too and commented that Hickey understands how to pick good football players. Hickey has demonstrated better judgement than anyone else in the organization and should be empowered to decide on Philbin and if negatively, hire his replacement.

Hickey prefers guys who are, as yopu mentioned "football players". he would never take a Ted Ginn track star scrub that high.
I am a big fan of that strategy, too many put too much stock in to what guys do in their underwear on turn for some scouts.

That's what your draft picks are supposed look like. We are so used to crap it amazes us when a draft pick actually can play the game. This kid is for real, Hartline will be gone next season.
