How do we insert Nick Saban and get Wanny results?

It is pre season, but to discount the ineptitude of this team so far is a mistake. They did not game plan to suck. The problem is Saban did not bring anyone in to address the 2 biggest weaknesses on this team last year, the OL and QB. Because of this oversight, or mistake, or whatever, we will not be that good.

I'm sorta buying this line so far. I thought Saban would make more of a splash in FA this year....do something to stir the pot. The O-Line wasn't only bad because of piss-poor coaching, but because they are piss-poor players. Same goes with the QB situation, but maybe they look REALLY piss-poor because of the sucky O-Line.

I guess Saban is just using this year to evaluate more than we had hoped & anticipated.

I wonder if he really understands the passion of DolFans ? And just what the 'Fins mean to So Fla ? Its not like the Marlins, where fans are there just for the playoffs....or the Heat sells out just because they are a great team with a Shaq Daddy.....this team is 40 years old and has been around for more than a generation now. I was only 6 when the team started so I have never really known a time WITHOUT the Fins.

How long will it take for the first "Fire Saban! :fire: " thread to pop up? Any guesses?

The day Wanny & Speilman join ;)

The players he brought in are not addressing the situation, he brought in scrubs, no one who has starter talent. Anyone can bring in other people's cast aways, he did nothing to address the situtation.

I don't know about scrubs or cast offs, some were free agents. But he actually has addressed the situation with the best available talent and price. He was smart with his draft picks, Brown, Roth, Crowder and Daniels will all see a lot of playing time this year. With the exception of Roth, all may even be starters. 3 out of our 4 draft picks as starters is a great draft. Then he brings in guys to fill holes, Ferotte, McDougal, Holiday, Jones, Spragan, Traylor, Carter are all solid players. These guys are not long term, but they are servicable. Can't fill every hole in one draft. Plus, he really doesn't know what he has in Feeley. We're learning, but you have to give him credit for giving him this year to find out. In next years draft I see us taking a QB pretty early. Also, I would guess that we'll see a few OLineman picked along with some Linebackers or a DTackle. He's making good moves and I think he's doing a great job. We're just all so "result orienated" it's tough to keep us happy.

Someone started a thread before the first preseason game and asked what people expected to see from the team in it's first game. I replied that I was interested in seeing whether the mental part of the game had been improved (i.e., the false starts, offsides, turnovers, missed tackles -- the things you mention). I thought that this was the biggest area where Saban would make a difference as opposed to Wanny. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the improvement that I would have liked to date. Now, I understand that it's preseason as well, but these mental errors should really never happen, whether it's preseason or not. For instance, a false start -- that has nothing to do with game planning; just know the snap count or just watch the freaking ball. I just hope that I do see the improvement I was expecting by game 1.
I hear ya...I don't really are if they win or lose in the preseason...I don't even care if the QBs not hitting targets or the line's missing blocking assignments...yet...b/c those are things that take time. But I really did expect to see the stupid things cleaned up like false starts/fumbles/offsides/etc....those things have nothing to do with time in the system...just mental mistakes.

Have you seen McDougal play - he is far from solid. Ferrote as solid - he is a career back up. Many if not most of the FAs brought in all suck.

Maybe you don't care, but I do. Last year when you watched our ineptness during preseason, were you shocked that it carried over into the regular season? I was not.

Expecting a cleanup of the penalties isn't asking much IMO.

The main difference between this year and last is that this year we are installing completely new schemes both offensively and defensively. That being the case...I understand what you are saying..but please keep it in perspective. You have to remember that these games are to practice technique. We really have no idea what the coaches are trying to do with the players on the field.

Lets just all wait..I know its hard..but Im confident the regular season performance will look much better. Do you think Indy fans are freaking? Remember three years ago when Spurrier took over the reigns? The Skins offense looked unstoppable..throwing the ball all over the place. And it translated to nothing in the regular season.

The total and complete lack of depth at virtually every position on our roster cannot be corrected in one off-season. Saban has to make up for five years of incompetent personell decisions by Wanny.

Exactly. Next two practices, take the football and practice 1000 snaps with no false starts....any false starts and you do gassers and then start over.
