How high would you draft a QB in this draft?

Logan Thomas in the third day.

Elite tools, needs development.

There is no urgent need to draft a QB at all this year. We have too many needs to waste a mid round pick on a guy that will sit on the bench. And, he will likely get cut anyways. No team keeps 4 QB's.

Not sure how anyone can determine how useful or useless Pat Devlin is, but if and only if we moved Matt Moore this year, then I'd draft one in the 5th or later.

Devlin was an Ireland project who has yet to show much. Miami could very well draft a QB to replace him.

It's obvious Miami needs to add another QB via the draft. Matt Moore is on the last year of his deal ( if he doesn't get cut or traded) and Devlin is useless. How high would you draft a back up QB to give Tannehill some competition?

Personally, I wouldn't mind a Tajh Boyd or a AJ McCarron in the third round. Tannehill has shown potential, but this is his boom or bust year. There are no excuses this year. It's time to get it done. He has weapons, his Oline is getting rebuilt as we speak, and he has a new OC. But we also need a fall back, which is why I am a fan of drafting a QB kind of high this year.

What do you guys think?

Taj Boyd is terrible. I wouldnt draft him if we had no QBs on the roster and the draft went 20 rounds.

McCarron is going earlier than people seem to think. I wouldnt be shocked if a team like Houston trades back up into the late 1st round to get him.

If Johnny Football ever lasts to pick 19, we should run the card to the podium with his name on it. In fact, if he falls any further than 12 or so, I start to consider moving up before someone else grows a brain and does it.

Otherwise, I take McCarron if I can. Also, if Murray is available later on, I take him as well.

Im sure you are all aware I would do the smart thing and trade Tannehill(especially if some team is still foolish enough to hand over a 1st for him), then proceed to draft Johnny Football or McCarron AND Murray as well. I would have a roster with 2 of those guys and Matt Moore at QB. Let the rookies battle and if one is ready to start right away then put them in there. If not, I start Moore for one season.

No, it's not obvious at all.

Right. So we don't need a backup until next year and shouldn't squander a pick this year for someone to ride pine as our 3rd

If in a late round we have a qb on our board as BPA, then perhaps we grab him but I wouldn't waste anything higher than a 5th. And if we were taking a qb even that high, he'd better be the BPA by a large margin.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a Tajh Boyd or a AJ McCarron in the third round.
The only scenario in which I can see that happening would be if both Hickey and Philbin have decided Tannehill definitely isn't the guy, which at this point would be premature, imo.

No higher than the 5th. RT is the real deal. If he gets time he will have us in the playoffs.

Is that so?

I recall last season just needing to defeat the Jests in week 17 to make the playoffs.

RT had time. There was no pressure from the Jests all day.

We did not make the playoffs.

Considering those facts, I dont see how you can make that statement and be so certain.

That isn't going to happen because we'd be making the same mistake we made last year: drafting for an area in which we're already strong. When we picked Jordan, our d-line was arguably the most talented group on our team. So we wasted a first and second round pick to get a player we really didn't need. If we draft Manziel, or even worse if we move up to draft Manziel, we'll again squander picks that we can't afford to squander in order to shore up an area in which we currently have a tremendous overabundance of talent.

Okay, I know some of you are baffled about what I just said. Your heads are tilting a bit sideways like a confused pup because you're thinking, "Tremendous overabundance of talent??? Tannehill is okay but he's no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning so what the hell are you talking about???" And you'd be right. So let me clear this up. I wasn't referring to quarterback talent; I was referring to schmucks. Our schmucks cup overfloweth. Now when it comes to schmucks, I'll admit Johnny Football oozes a level of talent seldom seen. And if we were a team with a shortage of schmucks, I'd be right there with you cheering, "Johnny Football, Johnny Football!!!," but we're already so heavy in schmucks. We could probably trade away several and still proudly boast one of the strongest schmuck units in the NFL. So I'm going to have to pass on Johnny Football and hope my team tries to shore up one of our weaker areas: non-schmucks leadership.

i understood your first paragraph more than your second. lol

I would draft a QB with our first pick in the 8th round. As soon as that pick comes up ... BAM!, the QB competition begins. But ... not before the 8th round.

I have to laugh at anyone who thinks Johnny Manziel is going to be a good NFL QB. The guy has BUST written all over him, he's so self centered, full of himself. One big sack and his dreams are going to be done. I just don't like his attitude, he seems like he'll be a locker room cancer and a diva
