Sarcasm?4th round. I would use the 3rd/4th every other year on a QB.
Not sure how anyone can determine how useful or useless Pat Devlin is, but if and only if we moved Matt Moore this year, then I'd draft one in the 5th or later.
It's obvious Miami needs to add another QB via the draft. Matt Moore is on the last year of his deal ( if he doesn't get cut or traded) and Devlin is useless. How high would you draft a back up QB to give Tannehill some competition?
Personally, I wouldn't mind a Tajh Boyd or a AJ McCarron in the third round. Tannehill has shown potential, but this is his boom or bust year. There are no excuses this year. It's time to get it done. He has weapons, his Oline is getting rebuilt as we speak, and he has a new OC. But we also need a fall back, which is why I am a fan of drafting a QB kind of high this year.
What do you guys think?
No, it's not obvious at all. It's obvious Miami needs to add another QB via the draft.
Right. So we don't need a backup until next year and shouldn't squander a pick this year for someone to ride pine as our 3rdMatt Moore is on the last year of his deal ( if he doesn't get cut or traded) and Devlin is useless.
If in a late round we have a qb on our board as BPA, then perhaps we grab him but I wouldn't waste anything higher than a 5th. And if we were taking a qb even that high, he'd better be the BPA by a large margin. How high would you draft a back up QB to give Tannehill some competition?
The only scenario in which I can see that happening would be if both Hickey and Philbin have decided Tannehill definitely isn't the guy, which at this point would be premature, imo.Personally, I wouldn't mind a Tajh Boyd or a AJ McCarron in the third round.
No higher than the 5th. RT is the real deal. If he gets time he will have us in the playoffs.
If Johnny Football ever lasts to pick 19, we should run the card to the podium with his name on it. In fact, if he falls any further than 12 or so, I start to consider moving up before someone else grows a brain and does it.
That isn't going to happen because we'd be making the same mistake we made last year: drafting for an area in which we're already strong. When we picked Jordan, our d-line was arguably the most talented group on our team. So we wasted a first and second round pick to get a player we really didn't need. If we draft Manziel, or even worse if we move up to draft Manziel, we'll again squander picks that we can't afford to squander in order to shore up an area in which we currently have a tremendous overabundance of talent.
Okay, I know some of you are baffled about what I just said. Your heads are tilting a bit sideways like a confused pup because you're thinking, "Tremendous overabundance of talent??? Tannehill is okay but he's no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning so what the hell are you talking about???" And you'd be right. So let me clear this up. I wasn't referring to quarterback talent; I was referring to schmucks. Our schmucks cup overfloweth. Now when it comes to schmucks, I'll admit Johnny Football oozes a level of talent seldom seen. And if we were a team with a shortage of schmucks, I'd be right there with you cheering, "Johnny Football, Johnny Football!!!," but we're already so heavy in schmucks. We could probably trade away several and still proudly boast one of the strongest schmuck units in the NFL. So I'm going to have to pass on Johnny Football and hope my team tries to shore up one of our weaker areas: non-schmucks leadership.
i understood your first paragraph more than your second. lol
