how many impact players have Ireland/Sparano gotten us?

I love how ppl rant about how Long is not impactful but then the whole board is up in arms when Marc Columbo gives up sack after sack.

Brandon Marshall was absolutely worth 2 second round picks, especially when compared to Roy Williams trade or other big name trades of the last few years. Almost every single one of them included a first round pick, save for perhaps Kevin Kolb(who wasn't an established player, unlike Marshall) in which Arizona had to give up a single 2nd and a pro-bowl corner.
People are sobbing because he dropped a touchdown pass, but he is still a dominate player. For every time he makes a mistakes, he comes back with a 2 or 3 huge plays. He dropped the td pass, the caught a short pass and carried a defender for a touchdown. None of the players you listed(the woulda, coulda, shoulda crowd) have had the impact Marshall has in his career and should continue to have this season. Oh, and we still could have had those players, it would only have cost us Koa Misi. Marshall isn't responsible for Ireland trading down and deciding on quantity over quality.

And Long was acquired. He is on this team. We acquired him by spending a first round pick.

Ireland deserves to be fired, he has screwed the pooch to often. Im really concerned about the lack of hits with second round picks, as those are the lifeblood of any team. But the fact remains, this is a damn good football team. This team has elite talent on it. That talent was brought in by this regime. It doesn't save them, but we shouldn't act like they never did anything right.
Then why don't you list the rest of the picks?

I know Marshall is a stud but if we had kept the picks we could have Dez Bryant and Lance Kendricks on the roster right now (if Ireland was smart enough to have drafted them). Like I said earlier Dez Bryant, Ryan Matthews and Earl Thomas were there the first year. Bryant would have been our Marshall without the trade. Ryan Matthews could have taken over for Ronnie and Ricky and kept us from having to trade more draft picks to move up and get Daniel Thomas. Earl Thomas would have solved the free safety issue and given us a ball hawk that this defense desperately needs.

The second year we could have drafted Daniel Thomas, without trading up, Lance Kendricks or Stefen Wisniewski. The draft is about acquiring as much talent as possible, preferably impact players in the first 2 or 3 rounds, when you trade away draft picks whether for established players or to move up in the draft you lower your chances of accumulating talent. Just ask Wannstedt who traded away picks year after year in an effort to win now.

doesnt matter what wierd number scale or whatever u want to use to rate player with. The big thing is that they have brought in way more talent then we have had here since the late 90's. Yeah they have missed on some picks and some FA but they still have brought in players to try and help us win and make us better. The problem is we just dont have the head coach to make them a great team. And the oline shuffeling is one thing that has pissed me off alot

Long was amazing for the phins in 2009, We ran behind him a heck of alot..He helped us win games.

According to football outsiders in 2009 we ran behind left tackle only
7% of the time or 32 times all season...is that a lot
only 1 team ran less behind left tackle in 2009

we ran behind both guards and center 60% of the time
or 273 times

we ran behind rt tackle 11% of the time
or 50 times

ingrams jus caught in a numbers game in new orleans...just give it time

but we still wasted picks on White, Turner, Murphy, Merlin and others so it'd not matter

I never said this team didn't have any talent....all I said was we don't have enough impact players.....layers that will take over the game and make enough big plays to win the game for us.....Long is a good player but what game have we won thanks to him?.....when was the last time anyone said " we won tjhe game thanks to our LT"? .......Wake had a very good year in 2010 and made the probowl but this year was dominated by a rookie(I know it was only one game but still).......now let me just say this......maybe we have more playmakers than I think but we don't really know cause the way they've been coached has stoped their progress?....Davis is a good corner imo but to be an impact player you better make BIG plays and how many has he made? Marshal is a good WR but to be a playmaker you need to get in the EZ......you can blame Henne everytime if it makes you feel good but one on one and he can't get open even on a simple slant and then he drops an easy TD......he doesn't seem to have a nose for the zone and yes, that was a good play to push JA into the end zone but to be alite he needs to be consisnten.....he's had chances to get 3 or 4 TD's this year but how many does he have?......look, this is all pointless cause I don't believe Sparano can get this done anymore...I used to believe he could but now I don't.

Ozzy rules!!

OK, so I'll say it ... our team has THIN Talent!! How often do we see game-changing plays ... by individuals or groups ... this year or 2010 last half. Only a THREE-PEAT heads South with THIN Talent!!

If you hold your breath for a game-changing play ... you're PURPLE!! ... a Turn-Over, you're GREEN with envy!!

We have a few good players ... but they're not even making big plays very often. Look ma, NO Turnovers & TDs & STOPS!!!! lol
(Been saying that for some time, giving the rah-rah posse exploding heads ... time for another 3-year plan.)

Coach & GM are worse ... they're experts & fiddle each year while Miami is burning down!!

All Ireland has done is replace mediocre talent with more mediocre talent. The result of which is............you guessed it! A Mediocre team!
