How Many Losses Before it all Goes South.........

Picking a few games out to help your agenda is garbage. They also lost to the Bills, Browns, and Lions at home with the playoffs on the line. We were crushed by the Pats with our so called head coach, who people here call a great motivator, and players coach's job on the line. They tried to replace him and failed, and looked like fools. They tried to replace the qb, and failed again. Believe what you want, but this team has one foot in the gutter and the other on a bananna peel. They come out struggling, and this season could get ugly real quick. I hope not. I would like to see this team turn the corner, but i wouldn't count on it. Reality !!!

I am not the one with an agenda here pal. I have an wide open view of this team and have been right on most of my predictions.

I predicted last November that Sparano would not get fired and would receive an extension at the end of the year. Everyone called me crazy and "unrealisitc". I was right in the end.

I said before the draft that Mallett was not worth a 1st round pick while most here were falling head over hills to take him at #15. I was attacked for my views. He went in the 3rd round, again I was right.

I said during the lockout that Henne was likely going to be the starting QB this upcoming season, though I had also said I was hoping for an upgrade(Palmer or Orton). People said there was no way Henne was going to be given the job and a replacement would be brought in. Palmer retired and the Broncos' demands for Orton were way to much. Henne is now entering the season as the starter. Again, my "unrealistic view" turned out to be right.

Now I am saying I expect this team to win 9 or 10 games and LIKELY be in the playoffs. Let's see if my "unrealistic" view turns out to be right. I do have history on my side.

This team is closer to an 0-5 start then the playoffs.

I have never been the great optimist on this site, but even I think that most teams in today's NFL have a shot at the playoffs. Especially when every team starts out undefeated. If the offense gels in time for the regular season, and the defense shows up, we have a shot at the playoffs. I am excited for a new season!

We lost close games last season. Upgraded assistant coaches, new explosive players on offense, and arguably the best defense in football. Henne has sucked but he has also shown promise. Fasano sucked last year but he has had success in the past. It is all about staying healthy. We have made moves so try to show some support! Go phish

Now that's the spirit, GO DOLPHINS !

This is what I'm talking about in my OP. The teams psyche can't be all that great right now. I mean they DO KNOW what happened this offseason with the head coach and the ongoing QB situation........even new players are brought up to speed very rapidly by the incumbents, I would think. My gut tells me that if they don't get off to a quick start, it might go south very quickly and players might feel like going through the motions, I'm not sure here. As much as I am enthusiastic about a new season, as I am every year, I am worried about the lingering effects that this off-season fiasco will have on the team on the field.

They way I look at it this season is basically going to have two outcomes.

1. Henne and the offense click and with our defesne we easily have a shot at the playoffs.

2. Henne and the offense don't click and with our defense keeping us in games we win 6-8 games.

For those of you predicting a 5 win or less doom and gloom season there is no way that is going to happen. There is just to much talent on the defensive side of the ball and offensive playmakers not including the QB who can step up and make big plays to win a few games.

Let's go Henne! Your ability to become a more consistent QB is basically the only thing holding this team back. Hopefully with a much better offensive scheme he is able to make that transistion.

this team is closer to the playoffs, than actually having fans who are positive and rooting for them to win.

Bill you know better then to question my love for this team. I hope I eat crow and gladly will, but those first five games are critical and they can't afford to start slow in this Division or conference.

well, it's valid to point to our overall effort last season as anecdotal evidence that we will start off unsuccessfully... especially with the same QB

BUT if you're gonna do that, keep in mind that 3 of the first 5 games are on the road and just as anecdotally valid, we won 87.5% of those last year with the same QB. So there's really even more reason to believe we'll win at least 2 (60%) of them as there is in believing we'll start off 0-5 or 1-4.

My prediction is either 3 and 2 or 2 and 3: 50/50 chance of a win over Houston at home and then beating Cleveland and Jets on the road.

You must really enjoy Sunday's.

I am one of the most optimistic people you'll ever meet but I live in a realistic world. The questions surrounding the OL, QB and backfield are more complex then you may be able to Grasp.

I would agree that the team is closer to 0-5 start than the playoffs, realisticlly. And most likely the coach is fired and the team rebuilds again and we start the circle all over. :(

Jeezus, we're still rebuilding the o-line. We've been doing that since Sporano got here! Just don't think he is the right person for the job. I also think Ireland's failure to bring a QB will result in his being let go, but we will see. I think Ross likes Ireland, be interesting to see how that turns out.

I come here to enjoy my Dolphins on their 1st game of the season, and all I see is a bunch of party poopers. C'mon fellas, lets cheer for these boys and see them win. I can tell you for fact that my husband and I will be in front of the TV tonight and a hooping & hollering for our boys to win ! Go Dolphins !

I just don't think anything less that .500 for those first critical games is being realistic. we remove the biggest obstacle from henne's development and suddenly we're worse than last year?
