How many of you realize....

I don't know...I think those of us that remember 1972 and the glory days, have a much higher standard for this football team and accept mediocrity much less than the younger fans.

I couldn't agree more!!!! The younger fans don't know any differently than what they have experienced. I get so frustrated EVERY year, but Every year I come back. I love this team, always have, always will. I just hope to see another before my time, as each year passes I get more frustrated because time is running out.

I don't want to sound like I am full of hate, but I was born in '79 and have been a Dolphins fan since birth thanks to Dan. That is a long a** time since then and I am over it even though I keep coming back to the team every year because they are my team. I really don't care if more or less teams have gone to a super bowl than us, I want to see us in one. 30+ years is wayyyyy to long for me to experiance something like that IMO.

I am one year older (1978) and I can't say it any better than that.

When this Sunday rolls around, I will have been to as many Super Bowls as the Jets.

And not one since 1985.

Well I was talking about franchise accumplishments, never really said anything about recent SB success, but Miami went to the playoffs in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00, so they have been at least a bit competitive since 85.

Dunno if this still holds up. Better comparison would be winning percentage since 1966, anyways. I would imagine the Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos, Niners, and Patriots might be higher than the Dolphins if we only go back to 1966.

I do, as of last year, we were 1st or at worst 2 or 3rd. I read an article about the winning % of team in the NFL. You do know that the Steelers were pretty bad until the 70s, right? Or that the Broncos have had far more sub losing season (5 wins or less) then the Dolphins. After Miami losing 10 games this season, I a very sure teams that were close to the Dolphins Like the 49ers and Cowboys, are ahead, and there may be a few more teams.

Nope, that would go to Belichick/Brady

1st off, I said arguably, and number two, the combination of Shula/Marino have won more games then the combination of Belichick/Brady, and they did it without a defense and running game...two things Belichick/Brady had. Oh and as far as SB, Marino/Shula were also not fortunate enough to have the greatest pressure FG kicker ever, or any real elite receivers for that matter that have been there for Belichick/Brady.

Whoa, we had Mike Webster?

Obviously you did not know that the Dolphins had a Center by the name of Dwight Stephenson, and obviously you did not know that for the last 20 years there have been debates between experts (NON-DOLPHIN fans) on who is considered the greatest between Webster and Stephenson. Webster had a longer career, but Stephenson had a shorter but more dominating career. Also, that would again be the reason I wrote Arguably.

Anyway, sorry I ruined your day with Dolphin accumplishments as a team.

I'm only 18 and wasn't here for the glory days, but I am born and raised a Dolphins fan, and ALWAYS will be. We will be great sooner or later! I just hope we win a Super Bowl before I die lol!

I realized we'd never maintain our pace the first time I walked into the pathetic excuse for a stadium in '87.

I predict there eventually will be a notation by this category, percentage of years the Dolphins made the Super Bowl not counting the wasted half century in the Robbie bowl, by any other name.

Spot On!!!!!!!!!!!! Track the trajectory of our Dolphins since 1987. You are so correct. Our abomination of a stadium really impacted the whole aura of the Franchise and concretely eliminated one of the great home field advantages (The Orange Bowl). I really hope they are able to gut the lower bowl and bring the seats closer to the field. It will help.

You've got a lot longer than I do. Boy to be 18 again.......

IMO, there's only so much they can do with that dump. With seats closer to the field you still have a bland cement based stadium in a terrible location. Imagine an opponent flying into Miami then taking buses away from the heart and passion of the city to play the game. Terrifying. The Orange Bowl captured the spice of the community and fans were naturally rowdy when they entered the place. In our current dump, low key fans are conditioned to head to the lounges or luxury boxes.

Besides, our front office simply doesn't get it. It was disgusting to watch the Mike Dee interview with the Herald. He didn't try to pretend the transformation would allow our stadium to equal or even approximate the new venues within the league. Dee specifically said the improvements would allow our stadium to meet "the minimum requirements" to host the Super Bowl. What a moron. I wanted to throw something through the wall. How long does he expect that standard to remain the minimum, particularly with someone like Goodell in charge? As soon as you start the renovation there's another new stadium either under construction or in the works, meaning your design is trumped by someone else and the minimum is likely to shift. It's guaranteed to shift within a half decade or less. Miami might get one pity Super Bowl before being cast aside as outdated and irrelevant again. Goodell doesn't play by the old rules, either on the field or outside it. That's been demonstrated time and again. Miami isn't guaranteed to get anything, especially while aspiring to the minimum, which is like drafting quarterbacks in the second round and pretending it's a bold move.

I hope the county officials were paying attention to Dee's comments, and how absurd it is to ask for hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars when the goal is a tired theoretical minimum, flimsy by definition. If not, I'll certainly make them aware of it, one by one. We need to defeat this patchwork plan and jolt the franchise toward an actual solution, costly as it may be to Ross or his successor.

I've been a fan basically since your life began. It's been a looooong 18 (going on 19) year wait to see them in a Super Bowl. These guys have made me the oldest 27 year old on the planet.

If you had watched 60 minutes last week you would have realized why there are two tiers in the NFL...The top (Giants,NE,NO,Pitt,Bal,Indy,GB,CHI) and the punching bags (everybody else). We were all informed by Commissioner Roger that all 32 teams "share" 80% of the total NFL profits. This means even though MIA loses the 1st eight games and sucks eggs, It really does not matter if ticket sales fall off a cliff or they do not make the playoffs cause the $$$ still comes from the league. That way the losers (who are necessary by the way) can still make payroll.

They dont care if the stadium is 1/2 empty or worse...They get paid.

"0" Incentive to win

Furthermore, until about 6 years ago, the Dolphins had the best winning percentage of ANY major league sports team, and it wasn't even close.

I used to have a site bookmarked that outlined this, but that was a couple of computers ago. Anybody?
Not true anymore!
