So you think Miami HAS to run up the middle to try and gain a 1/2 yard because thats a better option than running behind Long? Hope thats not what you mean. Most teams run up the middle to gain short yardage because its the shortest distance to gaining that 1/2 yard.
Plus since when is it's Long's fault that the people calling the plays are idiots? God, you guys will pull anything out your ars to try and prove a point. If a thread isn't about Andrew Luck on here, it's about how horrible this front office, owner, coaching staff is but in this case they're smart because they realized that Long isn't a good run blocker (not true at all) so they have to run behind Incognito? Sparano's biggest crime by far as HC was playing Jake Long last Nov / Dec when he should have gone on IR. I realize that Jake would have been dead against it because he's a gamer plus it would have cost him $$$ but sometimes players need protecting from themselves. They also need protecting from regimes that are hanging on to their jobs by a thread

If you want a good reason to clean house now as opposed to the offseason then here it is:- Jake Long needs to medically assessed by independent people and sat if necessary. Whatever needs to be done to get him back to the player he was in his first 2.5 years should be done now

This is absolutely ludicrous what you're suggesting. I'd quit while you're behind because in this case you're too far behind.

So your point is basically he isn't the best left tackle to ever play the game? The guy is still pretty darn good and I am glad to have him on the team regardless of when he was picked or how much he makes.

Just sayen the guy is not playing up to par...by his own admission he is not. Give credit where credit is due...Pouncy is a rookie doing an outstanding job. Jake has been here a few years and is digressing.

Up to what Par? Who decides the par? The guy is playing good football just not as good as he usually does. He is obviously playing hurt and is still the best O lineman on our team and better than just about any other team can produce. Maybe the injuries will mark the end of the dominant Jake Long, but he showed the last 3 seasons why he was picked #1. You can hate the pick all you want, but the guy has been the best tackle in football the last 3 years. Also who cares about Pouncy in this conversation? I guess you're right we should bench Long because he is worse than Columbo. From looking at your post it looks like you are blaming the lack of a goalline running game on Jake Long and to me that is just dumb. You really thing that on a line that has Incognito, Carey, and Columbo that Long is the problem? I agree with you that he is not what he used to be, but he is not what is wrong with the line. Good point...We could have had him on the bench and not lost any more games than we did with him on the field. I agree 100% with that and that he is not that horrible...just not that good either.
