how much of Finnegan's contract guarenteed?

Since Finnegan doubled as his agent, I'm guessing they'll withhold the details for as long as possible to maintain the impression he got a good deal for himself. I believe this is contractually low risk, but why not let it appear he did well for himself.

I saw on NFLN ticker that he only got $2. Different from the reported $11. Not sure if that means he got $2 guaranteed.

$11 not $11M is probably all he's worth. Guy is an absolute scrub

Hopefully none of his contract is guaranteed dude is shell of himself.

2M guaranteed is what is being floated around.

Can't complain then honestly.

2 Year / $11 / $2 Guaranteed is pretty much on par with other vet "prove it" CB contracts.

What I don't get it, Peppers goes to the Packers after a horrible year for some fair coin and everyone praises the move. (3 years, $30M; $7.5M guaranteed)

Yet, Finnegan goes to the Fins after a down year at (2 years, $11M; $2M guaranteed) and everyone flips.

I thought I had read something today saying it was a contract similar to Delmas' show me deal that will balloon next season if they keep him. But, just this year is guaranteed. I can't find it. But, here is some good reading on everything else they have done so far this off season.

If Tannehill really is our next franchise QB the timing of the cap increase could work out well for us especially if we can get an extension done before his final year. We could make him the highest QB in the league next season but after the cap increase he could end up being the lowest paid of the good QBs.

I think this is how Dawn set this whole thing up.

With Wallace/Wheeler/Ellerbe big cap hits happening this year.

Come 2015 for Tannehill's Franchise deal the cap hits will be low for almost everyone else. Plus having cap hit increase.....nice planning.

They have been among the best in the league at managing the salary cap, giving them the flexibility to re-sign all the players they want to retain, and go after talent they need the last few years. They never seem to paint themselves into the corner. If we had identified FA talent and drafted at the same level as we've managed the cap we would have been a playoff team year in and year out. Hopefully Hickey has a much better eye for both talent and scheme fit, and get's the players in here, particularly young talent in the draft and as UDFAs to get us over the hump.

if the $2 mil guaranteed is all it is it's not a big deal...the main thing i worry about though would be he looks a step slow in the preseason etc and they keep him anyways and he plays significant snaps and gets torched...he needs to show well...

we'll see...but if he does get the starting job both our starting corners are short term stop gap solutions...buys us time yes but the concern will always be when does the age fall off show
