How to fix our OL - FA Focus

Great moves but not enough - we need depth...The Dolphins need to go crazy in the draft and free agency...

Give me strief and alex mack move pouncey to lg and draft greg Robinson in 1st round.problem solved

IDEAL would be

LT Jared Veldheer
LG Gabe Jackson
C Alex Mack
RG Mike Pouncey
RT Zach Strief

8 million + 1st rounder + 7 million + former 1st rounder + 5 million.

Far too great an investment for my blood, by about two fold. You don't need 5 solid linemen, especially when we're only starting with one. It's a nice thought, but not realistic as I'm sure you know. If we were playing sans salary cap sign me up haha.

I think the major catch would be Albert but he wanted to get paid 10 mil and up in the range of Thomas and Clady range. I don't think we can really afford to do that and will Probably go after collins as he fits a little better than Saffold who leaves a lot to be desired as far as staying healthy and overall performance.

Also the Rams maybe thinking of moving Long to RT and moving Saffold back over to Left due to Long's injuries.

If they did that, I'd trade them for their other tackle Joseph Barksdale, was a fan of his at LSU. He's part of the reason I think there's a greater chance Saffold hits the open market than not.

Gabe Jackson is not going in the first round.

I read somewhere speculation that Anthony Collins was looking for 5.5 or 6 per.

I cannot imagine why anyone would thumbs down excellent work like this. Regardless of how much anyone would disagree with content. I suspect it is an accident and will be rectified quickly.

makes sense...i don't think he's coming as cheap as that $3.5 -$4 mil listed on here...

i have also heard bengals are weighing keeping whitworth at left guard and resigning collins to play left tackle...so he may never sniff free agency...that said while he's good in pass pro now he hasn't been consistent with his play thru the years...some concern there i guess that he gets paid and falls off...but not many options for us either left tackle wise in free agency...

i think i'd take the chance even though he is a very finesse player does not offer much physicality in the run game...if veldheer could stay healthy this would be a no brainer...but he cant and if he could he wouldnt ever hit free agency anyways if he even does this year...likely tag imo

i still say that will yeatman is a starting left tackle in the making but at some point he's got to either **** or get off the pot...i would not give up on that yet...athletically it's EXACTLY what we want

Carl Nicks has a toe injury that's permanent, and its why he's played below far expectations all year. Signing this guy if the Bucs cut him would be a terrible move for a new GM.

Great run down.

Maybe the most intriguing OL FA who could likely be available is Anthony Collins.

Collins is 28 and a former 4th round pick, who can play both OT positions. He has done much of nothing until this year. He has a grade of +12.8 in pass blocking, and gave up 0 sacks, 0 hits, and 12 hurries in playing 673 snaps (60%).

He struggled on the run with a -2.3 grade but, overall did not have a bad game all year.

His salary for last year was $2.8M, and is due a substantial raise. I have strong interest here.

I agree on not breaking the bank with Albert.

they need to scrap the Zone Blocking and go to a normal pass blocking and Run blocking scheme.
block the guy in front of you an get to the next level!!
with the speed of Miller they should be able to counter and toss enough to keep the D honest!
Power in the trenches win games!

Ritchie was talking about this (before bullgate obv) and said this or that blocking scheme is a bunch or horse crap. He said every offense he's ever been a part of runs elements of both.

I really like the idea of signing Collins. He's been underrated and underused for years up in cincy.

Veldheer or Collins for LT. One of the top OT for RT. I would sign Wade Smith for OG especially if Kubiak brought in and also take an OG in 2nd round. Create a competitive environment within this group but also have depth along the line.

Collins - Wade Smith - Pouncey - Garner - Koundijio

There is not much out there at OG. I agree with the OP on the KC duo being the best options. The two split time at RG last year.

Schwartz played the best with a 5.3 grade in pass blocking, a 2.5 on screens, and a 7.3 on the run. He is 28 and a former 7th round pick who has not played much before this year.

Asamoch had a 5.4 in pass, a -0.5 on screens, and a 1.0 on the run (he had an 8.0 in 2012). He is 26, and looks to be the available option.

A sleeper at LG could be Shelly Smith from the Rams, who only played about a third of the snaps. He had problems with the pass, a -6.0 grade but, was +12.3 on the run. He is 27.

Many think it's gonna be easy to add four better guys to fix the OL but, unless we get very lucky in the draft, it is going to be a difficult task. We are far forom the only team with OL problems, and likely going to have to overpay to get two out of FA. I cannot see getting more than that based on available players, IF they stay available.

I think reality may dictate bringing Clabo and Jerry back on short term deals
