How to fix our OL - FA Focus

Throw the bank at Albert and Mack. Move Pouncey to LG and draft a RG and resign Clabo or Mickinnie to play RT and draft one as well

i have also heard bengals are weighing keeping whitworth at left guard and resigning collins to play left tackle...so he may never sniff free agency...that said while he's good in pass pro now he hasn't been consistent with his play thru the years...some concern there i guess that he gets paid and falls off...but not many options for us either left tackle wise in free agency...

i think i'd take the chance even though he is a very finesse player does not offer much physicality in the run game...if veldheer could stay healthy this would be a no brainer...but he cant and if he could he wouldnt ever hit free agency anyways if he even does this year...likely tag imo

i still say that will yeatman is a starting left tackle in the making but at some point he's got to either **** or get off the pot...i would not give up on that yet...athletically it's EXACTLY what we want

Ya I may have thought Collins was a little more under the radar than he actually is. I've definitely undervalued the tackle market, pretty much everyone last year got in the 6-7 million range (Beatty, Bushrod, Baker, Cherilus, Loadholt). Is Collins in that class? I don't think so, but he's close. So ya 5.5-6 seems like fair value. I'm shocked at the contract Vollmer got...(4yr 17....he was the one I wanted).

Considered by some to be the top guard...can't say I've paid him much attention, but not sure if he's there end of round 2. I'm more concerned with the money getting thrown around for one unit.

What I'm looking at right now for us, is bring in Collins, lets say $5.5 to start at LT. Then I'd try to sign Saffold to start at guard, same annual term as Collins. Bring back Clabo at around $1 mil per year. This would give us the flexibility that we need entering the draft. I'd pull the trigger on a guard in the 1-3 round range (Yankey, Su'a-Filo, Steen), and then a tackle in the mid rounds, scrapping our purely zone scheme and running a more balanced system. I'd look at Hurst, Henderson, Turner, Lucas). This way we have a RT in the wings if Clabo struggles, or if Dallas Thomas or Brenner prove themselves we can shift Saffold over to RT. It just gives us more flexibility, and we don't have to make insane commitments financially.
