How would you man the RT spot?

Another thing I would add is its not the end of the world if you have one weak link on the line because if everybody else holds up the QB has somewhere to go. Its only a huge problem when you have an entire breakdown all down the line and defenders coming from all directions, like what we had. I've seen plenty of QBs get moved off the spot almost immediately after the RT gets beat but he's able to move to a safe zone on the left side and buy enough time to still make a pass or at least throw it away.

I'd let the draft come to us. Don't ever reach for a RT. Fox has potential and we can draft a very good guard. Ireland left us in a mess that can't be fix in 1 draft.

The only potential Fox had is to potentially get injured constantly. He has played 8 games in 4 years so Im not sure anyone has seen enough of his play to talk about potential

McKennie is wanted by some for his name, not his play. He was worse than Martin, and much worse that Clabo in the last 9 games. Winston is the same. As of now, Clabo is the best option but, I would hope for a better option after the draft.

Mckinnie and Clabo were ure garabge last year, there is not one reaon to bring either back. I don't want to hear about yea he was good for these games and such. A football season is 16 games long and overall They were horrible

With this fella here.

This right here. Sadly ive always felt it would take 2 drafts to fix irelands mess

Sit tight at 19 and see how the picks shake out. If a guy like Lewan,Martin, or Moses is there take him. If not, take the BPA that meets another area of need. IE WR, CB, LB, ect. If we miss out, call in Winston or Clabo and give them a one year deal. As far as insurance goes, I would seriously consider bringing McKinnie back at the minimum as a back up.

Earlier in this thread you could have called me PANCAKE, but today just call me waffle because I am going to go with OT at 19 instead of BPA.

As painful as it is, I have decided to take Mayock and Pollian's advice and go OL with our 1st pick. Protecting Tannehill and having a decent run game are just too important. We saw last year how the lack of protection and the limited run game negatively impacted the productivity of our offense. So much so that I am willing to take a step back, regroup, and try and build a quality OL. As sad as it is that we have to do that, I feel it must be done if we are ever going to become the powerhouse we all want to be.

With that said, my pick at 19 is a reach because the guy I want probably is not going to be there when we pick in the 2nd. I also don't want to take a chance, trade back, and hope he is there in the late 1st. I assume that the top 4 OT's will be gone and we have to select from Kouandijo, Moses, Bitonio, James, and the like. I have concerns about Kouandijo's knee and Moses's work ethic, so I am going with Bitonio even though both Kouandijo and Moses are superior in size and length.

A few weeks ago I did a OT chart evaluating the top OT's using a variety of metrics such as Kerwin's Explosion Index, etc. based on those metrics and what folks have been saying about Bitonio's film, I believe he is the best candidate for our ZBS. I understand that he needs to get stronger, but his agility and speed scores are higher than Martin's (not to mention his arm length is 1" longer). In fact, if I increase his bench press from 22 reps to 28 he is the only OT to score at the desired level in all four categories. For convenience, the chart is below. Martin's 40 yard dash was taken from draft scout and is his lowest 40 listed. I also made assumptions on Bitonio's bench press after he gets into a NFL workout regimen and increased it from 22 to 28, as I said earlier.

Note: If I use draft scout's mid score of 5.22 for Martin's 40 time he drops to having only 1 metric at or above the desired level. If I leave Bitonio's bench at 22 he just loses the target at Kirwin's Explosion Index, but stays at or above in the other 3. Also, I realize that metrics are not the end all be all when it comes to player evaluation and what is on tape should carry more weight. If Martin is there at 19, then I suppose we should take him instead of Bitonio, but if not I think Botonio is the safer pick of what is left consider the injury concerns of Kouandijo and the work ethic concerns of Moses.

I agree. Pick up as much talent as we can in this deep draft, fill as many holes as we can, and hopefully we go into next year's draft only needing target a couple of positions.

I cannot see reaching for a RT when chances are a vet will be better this year, and we see guys we passed on making impacts and possibly Pro Bowls.

We know Tannehill can throw the ball, regardless of his issues. What the Dolphins can't do is run the ball. So anybody we project on the right side I want to have the ability to run block in a zone scheme, even if pass protection suffers a little. If you can get that guy in the first 3 rounds, fine. But if Hickey thinks a lot of linemen will go and he has to pick early, then I'd rather he just bite the bullet and do it.

Everybody's looking for linemen, even a team like Seattle is looking, and Rotoworld is suggesting they pick up Bitonio. So, as long as we get some decent guys I'm happy, but I'm a slightly worried about how it will pan out.

On the flip side........

We may have a crappy O line this year, regardless. And to get through the season as fans it would be nice to watch a first round stud run around the field and make a few plays on our way to our 8-8 season. So,.. there's that, and that's the argument for not picking up a tackle in the first round.

How would you sort it Dlockz.

I would draft a tackle fairly high in the draft. Clabo and Mckinnie did not nothing to deserve bringing back.
I would never have signed captain glass Jason Fox. I would have offered Eben Britton a contract on cheap.
I would have also signed Asamoah at guard. would have signed Ryan Harris on the cheap if Bruittan did not sign.
Rookie RT will not be any worse than Clab was

I like James. Getting him in a trade down would be best.

How on gods green earth is anyone expecting to be happy with Jason ****ing Fox as the starting RT....he's depth at best, maybe a camp body....if he ends up the starter at RT they are basically giving Tannehill a big **** you...

I like James. Getting him in a trade down would be best.

I know nothing about him, and do not see anyone else thinking he is a first round talent. What do you like about him?
