Huddle Report Champ First Mock

Marcus Peters is the best corner in this draft…but he has some baggage. Ifo when healthy is right up there with him.

Just watch his game tape against Oregon...didn't like the lack of effort he showed in that game...that seems like a red flag to me. Looked like he didn't want to be out on the field.

which is why he was kicked off the team. Petersen and his staff got fed up with his attitude

peters physical gifts are of the elite quality...but he may not have the drive to ever reach his ceiling...serious talent though...miami won't touch anyone that was kicked off a team in 7 rounds let alone the top 15 so i dont see the point in looking at him much...same for dgb...not a chance

last year they drafted all captains and team leaders etc early especially i expect that trend to continue under hickey this year...

ekpre olomu is the best fit for us at corner...i would love to have that in miami...i dont get the doesnt play with physicality stuff either there...for what i see he's as physical as any corner coming out...now he may have saved himself this year a couple times...i don't know but his off man and awareness and the way he attacks the ball is high end...and he has a knack for forcing turnovers etc on contact...knows how to play the ball and his area and anything that impedes it in zone...

he'll lock down the slot replacing jimmy wilson and can also play the boundary cause he's such a high end athlete...and he will hit you in the process and make plays on the ball

you can watch olomus oklahoma tape this year and while you see him giving up yards in front of him just about all of it is scheme driven coverage played production and not db gets burnt stuff...and he puts his foot in the ground and fires forward to the ball and is a very good tackling corner...it looks tailor made for us to me

if it gets to our 3rd i will take it and if need be sit on it a year...it's top 20 value you get in the 3rd cause of the acl...thou shalt not pass...i'd run the card up...if you let it get to those 3rd round compensatory picks that contenders are loaded with it's not getting by...that kids getting drafted in the first 2 days...acl injury be damned

Oh agree that he's got some big red flags. But he can also be utterly dominant. Agree with Hoops that he isn't the type of player we would look at though.

As for Ifo…gotta see how he is moving around and what his medical eval is before the draft (of course we will never know but the team will). I think he will go round 2-3 depending on that. If a team thinks they can put him on IR designated to return and then I would take him in round 2. If not then probably a round 3 pick and just sit on him for a year.

exactly my thoughts...if it's designated to return outlook i'm taking it at 47...if it's sit the year i'm taking it in the 3rd and sitting on it...don't give a contender yet another piece to whoop your ass with cause you may have to wait on it

hickey says corners a priority...well make this kid THE priority

Agreed. I had him as a top 15 talent. I think people get too caught up in wanting immediate production…especially in the 3 round and beyond. I mean don't get me wrong I would love immediate production too…but thats far from a guarantee. Just take a look at our recent 3rd round picks and you can see that pretty clearly…and its not just us. Its not like most teams are out there getting an impact player in the 3rd round consistently. I think you have a better chance at a guy like Ifo coming back from injury and being a good player than you do drafting some guy like Will Davis in the 3rd round and hoping he can put it all together.

My main concern with Ekpre-Olumu, besides his injury, is his size. He is listed at 5-10, 185, (hopefully we will get measurements of him at the NFL Cmmbine). If you are going to take an undersized guy at CB, he better be able to take on the taller WR's, as well as being able to take on perimeter blocking. I have seen Oregon games where he just wasn't able to get past the blockers. I might be willing to risk taking Ekpre-Olumu with a third rounder, but not with a 1st or 2nd. He is tough, and is a sure tackler whether it's a WR or RB. I am rooting for him to return to form, but the Phins really have to kick the tires with this guy to make sure he can be the player he was.

I would take CB Kevn Johnson of Wake Forest if he is there in Round Three.

oh he's gonna come in in the 5 ft 9's which will hurt his value somewhat but i don't much care...in todays nfl you need more than 2 starting boundary corners anyways you need a slot/nickle etc and he will upgrade our slot worst case something fierce...but at the same time brent grimes isnt even 5 ft 10 and he plays the boundary...and this kids more physical than grimes and stronger also

in the 5 ft 9's i'm not using a top 15 pick on you although he's a top 20 worthy player in the class if you take height out of it

ifo...if that gets to our pick in the 3rd i think you pounce...i know i would

i agree with this.... i still gotta watch a lot more into the CBs of the draft, but I've watched a bit on Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and liked the potential he can bring so far.

Marcus Peters I am not touching due to his issues. If he doesnt have the care or drive to develop and become great for himself and more important for the team, then go away. It would just be awful to have on the team, to interact and work with, and to even see on the field that type of attitude.

I'm pretty high on Kevin Johnson but he's not going to make it to the 3rd round. I bet he kills it at the combine.
