Pardon my ignorance, I havent really looked at this since Geography class when I was about 12. But is a tornado more or less serious than a hurricane?
Probably much less?
It's really odd that Irma hasn't turned north yet. She's way past where she was projected to turn. Still moving west.
Maybe FL Panhandle landfall isn't out of the question after all.
A tornado is much more powerful than a hurricane, inside of its arc. It also is usually good for only a half hour, usually less.
A hurricane lasts for days instead of minutes, and is gigantic.
The sheer size and duration of a hurricane (which I have never experienced) sounds a hell of a lot worse than a tornado (which I have experienced).
Tornadoes wreck farms and towns. Hurricanes wreck states and small countries.
So yeah, while a tornado may be more destructive in its tiny little area, I'd take it over a hurricane all day long.
FPL does suck in some areas.Barely any wind so far and already my power is out. I swear the power goes out in this building if you sneeze.
And we probably won't get power back until Monday since we are in an evacuation zone. Doubt FPL sends people out here until the hurricane is gone.
To clarfiy, yes overall I agree with you, but the thing is if your in the path of a tornado- there really is zero protection.
At least with the hurricane your shuttered up etc and hopefully can withstand it - unless your directly by the eye wall area.

I thought you were leaving.
Not sure. I was glued to TV for awhile. Hope he's ok. Is it true that an incoming tornado sounds like a train?
****ing moron. People have been taking selfies at that pier or w.e it is for hours. I simply dont understand the human race sometimes
The emergency services have to put their own lives on the line saving these idiots
