Hyde5: Why Louis Delmas is a Dolphins gamble

Fans complain because the organization gives them a reason to every year.

Bla Bla Bla!!! Broken record.... These reporters spew bull****, and you guys suck it up, like its the gospel. He played all 16 games last season. That's all that matters. It is a 1 year contract. Get over it. You people with your complaining, will not change the decisions.

Should everyone simply reply that the move was great and the Dolphins just moved closer to NEw England?

1. Not sure if he is an upgrade over Clemons..
2. He has well documented injury past....in the knee area...
3. Granted he plays all season and something like 97% of the snaps, but he didn't practice...those knees....

I take things at face value and don't simply look at a move as good because Miami made the move....could he come out and play all season and perform well...yes, or he could be Patterson 2.0 and have a season of significant time missed....in the end it would be smart to have a back-up plan in case the latter happens...

What about the 2 A-Holes we drafted last year, Taylor and Davis?! They ever gonna make a difference?! I apologize for the lash out..

Yup and dawn near everyone said the same about Grimes after missing a whole year... delmas is a upgrade point blank period... His three picks last year matched Clemons career totals... He played the whole year last year and probably still strengthen them... The medical world for athletes today to remarkable. .. Revis tore his knee and came back strong, a the same... you think that if his knees were that bad he would play a whole season with out missing a game.. As physical as he plays... idk

Yep.

I'm not worried about knees unless there are revision surgeries or repeated injuries to the same ligament. Delmas signed a very safe contract with us. It's not like he wrote him a 20M dollar check. Like I said, I hope he makes himself a bunch of cash in 2014.

All the Delmas signing really is, is swapping one injury prone Db that cost $5.5M for another that cost $3.5M. And that's it.

Really? Because I was just about to say maybe Delmas has more intstincts to break on the ball instead of being a half step behind in the mental dept.

Zach Thomas wasnt fast. He was good because his head was fast.

The price Miami paid takes in account the health risk and the Phins have a solid backup behind Delmas.

Folks, injuries are part of the game and nearly all players have limited shelf lives. Bring in the talent at a reasonable cost, then cross your fingers the team as a whole stays relatively healthy.

Can't argue that... even though Clemons would be in position to make a play.. Some how he could not just bring in the damn pick

Is Michael Thomas any good?

This signing tells me we go early for safety in the Draft. We would have had to commit 2 to 3 years to Clemons. We Draft one early let him compete in camp. If he wins the job we have a 3.5 incentive based backup on a 1 year deal.

Because we all know you followed Delmas' career personally....c'mon man, you dont know this player any more than any other fan. He is what his price tag says he is...cheap and available for 1 year. Theres no strategy behind this pickup bra.

...Zach Thomas comparison is ... just so.....

He is clearly an upgrade over Clemons. He holds onto sure interceptions, and he takes reasonable pursuit angles. Ding, ding, ding. He wins the competition. It is a risk because of his health, but I believe it is a calculated risk for the right price.

They've already drafted the guy to be the understudy, last year. One of those guys will be alright to back up Delmas.

Good point. It's possible they like Don Jones future, and just want to get him another years experience before giving him significant playing time on the defensive side of the ball.
