Hypothetical QB Sitch: Moore, Garrard, Mallett

Mallet was passed on 73 times before being selected by the Pats (as a Luxtury pick)... How is it only the Dolphins blunder for not picking him yet we have not seen him throw one NFL pass?

What is the damn obsession with Mallett?

Mediocre, immobile, poor character third rounder.

GET OVER IT PEOPLE! WE MISSED OUT ON NOTHING THERE!

I would of liked if we rolled the dice on him, especially when we could of resigned a guy like Ricky or Ronnie for nothing . . . but I agree that there is a reason he fell so hard and it has more to with than just character concerns (thought that was the biggest reason).

That ship has sailed though, it's on to the next one for me as well.

YOu can never say with hypothetical questions like that. If we had drafted Mallet, Moore would have gotten even fewer reps or maybe not been brought in at all. I don't remember when we signed him.

The questions about Mallet were about his character and his toughness. If you look at his college highlights he goes down right away from contact and looks pretty fragile. There is more to being a great, franchise QB than just throwing the ball well. Remember Jeff George, he had a cannon of an arm, was extremely acurate and threw the ball better than almost all pro QBs. Look at his career.

And that guy the Raiders drafted at #1, who really liked to drink that purple 'drank'. :chuckle:

I heard Mayock say that Jamarcus Russell had the best pro day he'd ever seen. Look what happened to him.

It's the same ol' same ol'. People ignore that there was a lockout and that we didn't have either Ronnie or Ricky under contract & didn't have Reggie Bush. Ireland had to get a running back in the draft and there was a run on them in the 2nd. If he didn't, there was a real possibility that Lex Hillard would have been our starter. Ireland said that they tried to move up again to go after Mallett but didn't have any takers. Given the situation, he made the best of a bad situation. Furthermore, no one can honestly call DT a bust after one rookie season and crown Mallett a franchise QB after 1 season sitting on the NE bench.

I don't buy this "3rd round value" B.S. Sorry. Mallett came out in an era of instantly gratifying information, where rumors, innuendos get sprinkled in with facts, variations of facts and intentionally misleading information by everyone who can tweet, blog from their parents' basement, stream their media in an effort to stand out from the glut of other more formalized media also trying to stand out by being controversial or shocking. This is not April '83 where information was limited, rumor got gossiped individually, and generally wouldn't be touched by what was more legitimate media back then. And even as such, Marino based on his "bad character" rumors went very late first round. Can anybody really say that in this media hungry, uncredentialed environment, Marino wouldn't necessarily have slipped as far as Mallett if not further down? Again, shame on this team of all of them, for letting Mallett slide past the 2nd round with the history and resulting success we had by opportunistically capitalizing on Marino's diminished market value.

Please stop brining up this coke head who is on another roster.. some of you guys, sheesh!

K. We didn't draft him. What is the point of this thread?
We are in QB limbo right now and every free agent option we explored has been exhausted. People are flipping out on the FO. My intention of the thread was, where would the emotional barometer of Fins Nation be had we drafted Mallett?

Ryan Mallett will be killing us for many years when Brady retires. Brady and Manning are "statues" but they have great arms and Mallett's arm is even stronger then either of theirs. This is why(duh) the Patriots drafted him.

Us not drafting Mallett is another example of why we are starting this season with two discarded free agents QBs.

We have a chance to draft a raw but good QB in Brock Osweiler and we will funk that up also.

Ryan Mallet will be a UFA before Brady even thinks about retiring.

...not AT ALL what I was saying if you read the post. I was saying our FO is incompetent for not grabbing Mallett when they had the chance.
Mallett is a joke. The fins didn't draft him because he was not worth drafting. Mallett will never be Aaron Rodgers. To make such a claim is absurd.

Mallett was available in the third last year because he is not very good. Nothing to see here. Move along.

And yes.

Tannehill >>>>>>> mallett on character issues alone.

mallett will be matt jones 2.0- former hog who toked too much of the white powder and blew out his brain despite considerable physical talents.
