Hypothetical Question - Dolphins Move To L.A.

no chance it happens i don't even know why ask this.... san diego or oakland would move hell even other teams will move before us.

miami will get a new roof or a stadium i can almost seeing it coming soon enough.

Not true.

It's not like it used to be man. If you get the right...or in our case wrong owner...and he has enough money, he'll move the football team if he has that desire. It's all about turning a profit to these guys. Jerry Jones wouldn't move the Cowboys because they're the most profitable football team in the NFL but if they were to leave, the Redskins could easily overtake that top spot. Miami, like everything else involving the Dolphins, right in the middle. If Ross believes he could turn a bigger profit in Los Angeles, he's definitely look into it.

Sometimes I wish the Dolphins would cease to exist, because that would give me a convenient excuse to stop rooting for them so that they could stop breaking my heart. Seriously, I would root for the Dolphins as long as they are the Dolphins because I am not from Florida anyway.

If they moved to LA.....NO WAY. However, I would be intrigued if they moved to Billings. I think I'd stay on board with that move. Anywhere else, nope.

As a non-American Dolphin fan, it would not affect me greatly and I would still be a fan. However, the whole idea of a team moving to another city does offend my European sensibilities as it is an alien concept outside of the USA.

If the dolphins move u can be sure i will no longer have a team to root for. On another anote, i really dislike this thread.

It's hypothetical silliness. The Dolphins aren't going anywhere. At least it's not beating the same dead horse subjects.

I don't think Goodell would let it happen. I was in LA when the Seahawks actually went as far as independently moving their operations there before some Seattle lawyers in concert with the league stepped in - and that's after the league letting the region lose not one but two teams.

Miami's symbolism, cache, location and legacy is IMO too important to the league to have south Florida tranform from Perfectville to Teamless City... and superbowl host-less. Beyond that, Ross spent much of his formative years growing up in N. Miami, one of his best friends (whose name escapes me) who was rumored to buy a significant chunk of the team is an equally wealthy Cuban development guy down here he'd have to reckon with, plus he maintains a few residences including Revlon's Ron Perelman's massive former mansion in WPB. His roots are here and he's living the good life -so there ain't no way Ross will want to burn his bridges with this area becoming its despised Art Modell. Being one of the nation's 50 richest individuals, his holdings beget so much additional wealth that I'd find it hard to believe he'd be motivated to move the team just to wring out additional profits. :idk: We're not talking "Frank McCourt" here after all.

But be all that as it may, if they moved, I'd find another team to root for (probably my dad's NY Giants) and likely even end up actively rooting against them for spite.

I think i would follow the team honestly. I grew up in SC. The team draws me (jesus that is sad as of late right?) not the city or location. I am in Colorado now, and used to be being in a small ski town atmosphere. The feeling in the city of Miami proper, to be honest, i don't find very attractive when i have visited for games. Crazy traffic going on in Miami and people there drive like morons.

I'm more of a Miami fan than I am a football fan anymore to be quite honest. I usually only watch the AFCE teams if they are showing *shrug*. Football has just become so "bleh" in so many ways, but regarding the topic..I would probably just stop watching overall if Miami ended up moving. I think they just need to move somewhere else within Florida is all. It seems the current location is very frowned upon, although it's only an 1 1/2 hour drive for me..I would have no issue driving farther for a better atmosphere/stadium, but start putting something on the field worth showing up for at least. I wouldn't care if I live across from the stadium I still wouldn't support the **** they've put out there (guess I'm a bad fan for having some common sense..). I would just like to be competetive at this point...

Nobody seems to care about the Hurricanes anymore either judging by their attendance, which is kind of odd to me because I usually will see a lot more U apparel than I will Dolphins running around here.

There is always a chance this will happen because the NFL is a business first and foremost and the point of a business is to turn a profit on your investment. The question was hypothetical however because the odds of this are extremely low. Miami is operating at reasonable profits and has a solid fan-base. There really isn't any reason to chance the backlash of a move.

The point of the thread was to stir a debate about "what if". With all the bull**** media bashing of the fan-base it got me to think about the Cleveland fans and how they might have felt when Art Modell gave it to them in the *** sideways without vassoline.

My loyalties would stay with the history of the team, Griese, Shula, Marino, Thomas, Csonka and all the history that went along with me personally becoming a Dolphin fan. If that history moved it would be easy for me living in NY to move my loyalties but for the good of the NFL, I would hope it stayed with the City of Miami and its people. There are too many great memories in that City to up and move them to some place that is the highest bidder.
