I am Still Pissed about Vontae Davis

had the potential to be one of the top 3 corners in football...physical tools are elite...contract from the colts validates it...

hated when he left for that peanuts compensation...just didnt look motivated at times and frustrating....gonna look back in 20 years and think what could have been
 
Vontae always played well. We would have had him way cheaper and under contract had we kept him. Now we have Taylor or Davis in his stead. The good news is that Ireland is gone even though he screwed us up royally.
 
Davis came into camp out of shape and is head not in the game. That's all I needed to know to move on from him.

No he didn't. That was my biggest issue with him. He would play at an all world level and then take the next 5 games off.
 
He gets whipped by mediocre receivers on the reg. he should be a lot better than he is with his athleticism. But that's probably our former coaching steff's fault
 
Vontae Davis for $10 million a year or Sean Smith for $6 million a year? Based on their play in Miami I would think Smith is the better deal. I just think for $10 million a year there are a number of cornerbacks that you could sign for that money. And if you remember what Ireland said was it wasn't personal against Vontae he just felt that Miami wasn't going to resign him when he hit free agency and trading him for a second round pick while we could was good value.
 
It's not so much trading players like Davis and Marshall it's the players we drafted with those picks that burns!
 
The rear view mirror sure does get distorted around here. I don't miss him one bit. Guy was a head case and underachiever.
 
Getting rid of Davis may have been the smartest thing Ireland ever did...
 
He was rated as a top 5 corner last year.

Of course it was a mistake. Just like trading Marshall was. Just like trading most talented players due to an idiot coach trying to prove a bs point about character.
