Four 300-yard games this season. First Dolphin to do that since Dan Marino in 1998. Think about that. He throws for 300 yards every 3 games. A few of his throws were ridiculous today. Granted, he made a couple poor decisions, but those are called growing pains folks. This team will be better off in the long run by having him learn from those mistakes now than when we have an even better team assembled.

And to think, right now, he has as many starts at QB as players like Russell Wilson had halfway through last year as a rookie. 10 years ago, Tannehill wouldn't even be playing yet, as it was the norm for QBs to sit their first 2 years or so in the league. No one has more upside than RT17 and I for one am optimistic and looking forward to the future, while basking in the present, which has us in the playoff hunt.

One thing he needs to work on is his deep throws, he seems to always underthrow receivers. Not just to Wallace, he also did it to hartline today on a play where hartline had the man beat by a good margin and would have had a TD

Needs to work on deep ball touch still and get an o-line that can help him but yeah, he can play and IS getting better. Moved well in pocket today and only one sack. Big win.

He does need to get better on his deep throws but he does so many other things so well that if he gets better on those throws, than we have something special. I'm not sure how much it means but he's only thrown more ints than tds this year in just one game while the inverse has been true in six.

Agreed, out of all the criticism he receives, that is the one that is most warrented (pocket presence being a second one to a lesser extent, as that is something he has improved on considerably as this season has gone on). The silver lining is that the deep ball is one thing that CAN be taught. It's not like velocity or leadership, where you either have it or you don't.

His deep ball is more of a timing thing and knowing when to put more or less on the throw. Which I see as something that can be corrected. We all know he has the arm strength he just needs to perfect it like an art.

everyone I get his deep throws are off but he has improved so many parts of his game I expect him to work on it. this is not the finished product, in my opinion he keeps getting better. people are always gonna have an off game but u can see tannehills progression and improvement in certain areas

I don't think anybody can really "say" anything with much certainty at this point.

I was going to start a thread for RT breaking 3000 yards this season with 4 games left to play, but this thread is plenty good. He currently has 3,115 yards passing with 17 TD's, top half of the league for both stats.

He has a looooong way to go before we anoint him anything, but he has shown a lot of progress and I'm happy with it thus far. He needs to cut down his int's, he's in the top 1/3 of the league with those.

I can certainly say I believe in him.

He still has much growth in his game to do, but that's ok.

The thread title is a little tongue in cheek, responding to the thread titled "I can now say the Dolphins do not have a QB".

However, with the continued improvement, it is becoming clearer and clearer that he is a guy that we can build around. Now it's up to him to continue that improvement if he wants to move into an elite or near elite category.

He hasn't had nearly the setbacks in performance this year as he had last season (i.e. last year's Tennessee game).

Kim was just interviewing Clay who was raving about Tannehill's performance, how he was threading the needle in tight coverage and how he and the team are growing. But that's only a perspective from the field which of course pales by comparison to some of FH's junior armchair GMs. :idk:

In the game day thread I was bitching plenty about Tannehill but he came out in the 2nd half and made me look like a moron. I'm perfectly fine with that :). Hopefully he can keep having games like his 2nd half today

His deep throws are horrendous, Today should have been a blow out and record stats for him.....he left to many big plays on the field......I agree he is still growing and I am one of his biggest backers but I have to agree with haters today, he had me so mad in the first half as did Philbin and Sturgis....we should have been up by 20 at the half......thank god the Jets mailed it in today or this place would be going nuts.....even with his poor first half I would take RT over 75-80% of the QB in the league right now.....
