None of the Top OCs or DCs are accepting interviews right now it seems until playoffs is over.

Also when I look at this situation MIA could fire their coaches Next week and still one of the top destinations to coach.

Granted the new coach has to deal with NE and Brady, but the rest of the division is wide open. This how I have the places ranked to coach and where you would fall IMO if Philbin and Ireland do get fired.

Houston - Best job OPEN IMO. Top pick to get your QB you want, and a heck of a defense. Good City, new stadium and stable ownership. Though I think O'Brien will be their coach soon.

2nd (tied) - Detriot - Stable but older ownership, OK stadium, crap city. Decent roster Franchise QB, and Top WR but tough division with GB and CHI. Also could have Cap Issues soon.
MIA - Stable ownership, good city, trying to get a new stadium. Franchise possible QB, nice cap space and a very good roster, Granted the NE factor, but rest of division is over, though is Dolphins top draw in town, might play on a higher profile name.

3rd - Minny - New stadium, AP and a pretty decent Roster Killer conference though

4th - TB - Depends if they like Glennon (sounds like Lovie Smith)

5th - CLE - Lot of Picks, decent talent on defense and arguablly a stud at WR in Gordon

6th - Washington - Medling Owners turn off coaches, Dallas would be here too because of that.

So my point is there is no reason to rush to Fire IMO. The minute this job opens up (if it does) you should have no issue finding a coach.

maybe we're in a rush to fire people cause the gm just finished his 5th season here and the most wins we've had in a season is 8? maybe the head coach is on the hot seat cause we got whipped by a jets team with nothing to play for and your bills team which is a joke of a franchise? if the cheats were in any other division they wouldnt have this run of dominance. between the bills and miami they have 1 playoff appearance in 26 combined seasons....how do you explain that bills fan?

Yep. I want Jeff Ireland fired yesterday, but if we get a personnel executive it's likely to be someone from a playoff team. No rush.

And we can't interview the coach I want right now for the same reason. People are freaking out because we are going to miss out on Lovie Smith? Yeah, okay.

There is no rush, but the Finheaven torch and pitchfork posse want someone's head on a stake yesterday so they can sleep better.

I can explain that easily.

1. Turnover in both organizations recently
2. Both have been searching for a QB since Kelly and Marino
3. Both have had bad OLs for years

I really dont like your GM at all, however I think Philbin could be a good coach, but they are probably tied together, otherwise if you remove the GM, essentially you have a lame duck Coach.

Also besides your GM your OC is to tied to Tannenhil and it is hurting HIS development IMO.

The other thing IMO and this is not a dig on MIA or the fans, but IMO there is to much to do there, players tend to be not focused while in MIA, it seems alot of the players that go there get caught in the South Beach laid back lifestyle and I think that is why you tend to play better on the road. Also again not bashing your fan base, because I think they show up to support a winner, but when there is so much other things to do why go and watch AVG?

People want to know what direction the team is going. Until a firing is completed or Ross declares no one will be fired, people will be on edge. Normal human behavior.

of course there will be no rush. The man has to start thinking about some serious stuff.

He will be talking to people inside and out of the organization.

What he will hear alot about is the Tannehill talk. Why disrupt Tannehill and his 3rd year unless you change the OC (which most def should happen)? He needs a full deck of cards. This is what Ross will eventually be thinking because this is what people will tell him. If you break down the offense, and refer back to Hoops thread, you should come to the conclusion that this offense was not suppose to be like this. It was told to us that it would be high tempo no-huddle. Apparently, the Oline probs and injuries to key players put a cabash on that with Martin the Violinist as the beaver.

Hell we have waited like 3 years for Ireland to be fired whats another 3 . I mean damn its been like half a century since we won a superbowl we cant be in a hurry lol

Lovie Smith and Bill O'Brien (i think will be hired soon in HOU).

However the better College Coach if he can be taken away would be Kevin Sumlin

I guess my point is the firing could happen today, or next week and nothing really changes.

MIA would still be the Best (if O'Brien rumors are true) or second best destination to coach in.

and he's not going to fire Ireland for the sake of firing Ireland. He will fire him because everyone involved thinks they can bring another guy in who will work for all involved.

I just ask honestly, what is the probablity of finding anyone like that who will accept this situation? Brian Gaine yes, but every outsider not nearly as much.

Sumlin intrigues me. I am a big proponent of Jay Gruden, I think his overall resume is highly impressive. I think he is a far more interesting candidate than his brother, who is a good coach but also a terrible manager (reminds me of Nick Saban a lot in many respects).

Personally, I really don't object to letting the new GM evaluate and make a decision on Philbin. I think the problem is talent more than coaching. I would be fine with a new GM who decides to give Philbin another year.

Gave you a thumbs up on your well thought out post but I still would be happy if Philbin was gone. Especially after the last 2 games performance and missing out on the playoffs that didn't have to happen with just 1 win.

What's to say it won't be the same thing next year Philbin stays? He is certainly not a motivator.

I think the rush is because we are all afraid that the longer this situation lingers the more likely Ross won't do anything.
