I dont get the need for a rush to Fire

I agree with this reasoning. I have been back and forth on this issue since Sunday and you make some great points. I know that Ron Rivera was on the hot seat before and through the first part to of this season, and look what he was able to do in his 3rd year.

I also think that our free agents will be much improved in year two, I was expecting this from the start. I feel that the linebackers will be more comfortable in their role and Wallace and Tanne will be deadly with an off-season of work with each other. I have no doubt Tanne will commit his off-season to improving his chemistry with Wallace, they could be something special.

I really feel with and improved O-line, finding a RB who can break a damn arm tackle and convert on short yardage, and the development of this years draft and free agent classes, we will be a much better team next year. We are close, for the first time in a long time I truly believe that, and a mix-up from the top down could slow that down.

I hear that every year as we just play the company line and then next year ends and we are the same damn 7-9 to 8-8

Of course you would want to start the firing asap if you really intend to fire someone. The sooner the better. It shows potential candidates that you are ready to get someone new and move on. Under league rules you are allowed to talk to anybody as long as permission has been given for those teams still in the playoffs. So if you have a short list Ross can ask these teams for permission to talk to.

If you wait the best prospects may already be in negotiations with other teams.

D lockz, I dont deny what your saying, but.......but, have we had a chance with a guy like Tannehill any time lately? Rome not built in a day. It just doesnt work that way.

People say RT just like Henne. well, I gotta say maybe with end result, but clearly RT was not used correctly and had some serious OL issues to deal with. I would prefer one more year and get him some nasties and see what happens and then blow it up if it doesnt. 3 years. gotta be man.

Yep. Just because you fire someone today doesn't mean you are going to rush into the next hire. However, if you know the people you have aren't the right people, there is no reason to keep them.

The issue is that Ross still is wondering if he should keep them and that's distressing for fans.

I think RT is just fine and any respectable GM and coach will see the same thing. Just because we hire a new GM does not mean we throw away talented players , not sure where people see that coming.
I don't agree the team needs to be blown up. I think a real Gm and a real staff needs to be put in place. Let a solid GM make these decisions

yeah i know, its tough. But if you owned the Dolpins and were writing the checks, and had to make the ultimate decision to change everything, you honestly would be less inclined to do so at this point if you went through the entire season and anylize it honestly. Ross knows alot of inside stuff from Martin/Incognito and the people he brought in to change some things already. He has a much better feel for reality than most on here think. I think if he were to go through everything for the next week with a fine tooth comb, he would say one more year and everyone on notice as of today.

Reality is Jeff Ireland has been here since January 2008 and since that first fluke season we've been spinning our own wheels. This last offseason was Ireland's big master plan coming together (remember that wonderful "picks and money" quote?), and we got an 8-8 team with a miserable offensive line and a defense that regressed. It's time to move on from Jeff Ireland, and if Ross doesn't see that it shows to prove he's separated from reality.

No rush. Here's a better idea; let's keep the current failed GM in place while the owner "secretly" boards a plane to Baltimore to speak with Eric Descosta. Then we can extend Ireland when we are turned down because the position hasn't been vacated.

Between gator day, harbaugh, Sparano, club liv, orange carpets and keeping Ireland, I can't think of one single decision he's made that was good for this team.

That most likely has everything to do with you not even knowing what decisions he's made.

and so if we get a new GM, that will make fans somewhat happy. I fully keep the door open to Ireland being fired, but if it doesnt come within the next week or so, dont think its happening. He will go to year 3 with everyone (but please get sherman to retire).

I would have no problem with Gaine taking over if Ross and feels like he can do the job.

Hell we have waited like 3 years for Ireland to be fired whats another 3 . I mean damn its been like half a century since we won a superbowl we cant be in a hurry lol

Lot of people here are happy winning 7 or 8 games a year and they don't want to change anything cause we need to have patience. They feel Ireland needs another 6 or 7 years and then everything will be fine.

Ozzy rules!!

I mean Im sure if any Gm has a job for 10 years he might make the playoffs twice. I mean lets say we go 9-7 next year and make the playoffs do we all of a sudden give Ireland a long extension.

There is no rush, but the Finheaven torch and pitchfork posse want someone's head on a stake yesterday so they can sleep better.

And feel better about themselves......

I hear ya, I am so sick of saying "there is always next year"! I do feel that the reason I am personally so disappointed this year is the fact that we were good enough to make the playoffs and didn't. I feel very comfortable with Tannehill and I am okay with our coach. A new OC is the only real change I would like to see. I can live with Ireland, I think the 2012 draft was really good and this years has potential to be good as well. It seems he is getting better. Sherman just drove me crazy, I honestly could not believe the number of 8+ yard routes on Sunday with no running game and our top WR out, throw a damn slant or a bubble screen, how about a roll-out option on 4th and 1 when you have not been able to gain short yardage all year up the middle. Just crazy things that kept showing themselves all year.
