I don't like Ethan J. Skolnick

Why did you find that article offensive?

Do you think we're Superbowl bound this year?

It could happen, but it would be incredibly unlikely.

It was actually a positive article IMHO.

The writer who really should pack up his keyboard and tissue box and look for another job is Hyde. He doesn't understand football. All he does is carp and exagerate every emotional angle...

I won't even get into the Herald comedians...:fire: :fire:
(Pope used to be a woman, right?)...

I like Skolnick. He seems like the only area Fins reporter to give us a fair shake. I think he's actually a fan. Unlike a lot of the others, he goes to all the practices and bases his opinions on what he saw. He doesn't read ESPN.com and then make his determinations.

If we don't get picked to go to the playoffs then we're all upset.

If we do get picked to go to the playoffs then everyone complains about the pressure.

Why don't we just make the most of it?

Its a slow news day and columnists get paid to write .He is pointing out that this is not a throwaway season for many veterans while at the same time saying that we should not expect too much because of lack of depth due to poor recent drafting.

I enjoy Ethan's columns and always read them. You dont have to be a jock to be a columnist.

If you dont like him there is a simple solution.Dont read his columns.

Slow news before the season. Wasn't a bad article. I don't understand the problem.

Don't worry guys, season starts tomorrow.

BTW - he's a member of this board. I've spoken with him. He's not a bad guy. And Press Coverage is right - when they're told to submit something they have to.
I don't dislike the guy, I just dislike his writing. I think his stories lack insight. JMO.

people seem to get offended when others dont share their same opinion, and i never understood that...

so skolnick doesn't think we're gonna win the superbowl, but he thinks its an important season to show improvement and to establish saban as an NFL coach, whats wrong with that? because you might have a different opinion on how we'll do this season you now dont like the guy?

Just look at his picture. He looks like a kid who got stuffed in his locker all throughout school by football players and he is still bitter!

LMFAO! ahahahahaha

Skolnik's column's are all the same. He whines about everything! There's 2 extremes in sport journalism: the ex-jock that "talks tough" but says nothing and the sports reporter who barely played sports but tries to be senstiive. Skolnik is tender and sensitive. You should hear him fuss and quibble on the radio shows. He's a 'wuss".

Skolnick was actually a decent athlete. He did not play football, but he was a starter on the varsity baseball team and he was a darn good hitter.

It's damn tough to go 4-12 in this league. The Dolphins deserved more abuse than they received for that remarkable achievement, nationally and locally. The entire system is designed to funnel virtually every feam toward the playoff struggle middle. When you've dodged the pack by the third or fourth week I don't see how anyone can ***** about negative press until some evidence exists that you've escaped. The only semi-relevant sample is 1-4, virtually identical to 4-12.

Skolnick is a columnist. Look it up. Opinions. Any columnist who is sharing rosy opinions regarding the Dolphins now should be axed. The personnel is in the bottom 1/3 of the league, at absolute best. I don't know single Las Vegas handicapper or oddsmaker who would quarrel with that assessment and my job requires near-daily contact with them. We're on the upswing but that's like a slumping PGA pro who follows an 82 with a 77. Give it time and the legit goodtimes stories will hit the racks, Skolnick included. If he were the Patriot beat writer I guarantee you'd be bored beyond description at the smoochy accounts.

Am I missing somehting? What was so bad about the article? It had no substance but was overall pretty harmless....no?!? :confused2

:topic: Hey Dbergan, nice sig!!!

I just don't like to be condemned to a fate of failure before the season starts, and the guarantee that we don't make the Superbowl, and suggestion that we don't make the playoffs, is just that.

I think the article is as worthless as a Superbowl prediction.

Sure, its sweet. Channing and Travis need this time to get ready for next year and all that...nah.

Sorry fellas, but everyone who thought it was an all right article need not root this year, because what are you rooting for if not the playoffs?

Sit with Skolnick and wait till next year when maybe we have a positive outlook from the get go.

Meanwhile, I'm going to be positive NOW. I won't say there's NO chance we're the 1999 Rams. I won't say there's NO chance we're last year's Chargers.

I won't say there's NO chance we make the Superbowl, like this man did in this article.

^^i never said i agree with it... but why cant he have his own opinoin, does everyone have to share the same opinion as you?

Not everyone has to share my opinion, but when you put such a pessimistic opinion out there in publication, expect to be challenged by some FANS.

I'd like to apologize to Ethan Skolnick.

I just love my phins. Homer or not.

I bought season tickets. 1 season ticket. I don't plan on expecting losses.

They may come, he may be right, but this is the reaction of a die hard.

I'd rather die hard than die before it starts.

Nothing personal.

It's seems that Skolnick left out a segment of people when he asked the question... Does this season matter?

He left out the faithful Dolphins fans. And obviously, it does matter. It matters to fans that will fill stadiums, sports bars, listen on the radio, or catching an internet feed throughout the US and Canada...and other locations around the world. The season always matters to the fans.
