I don't think Bua has cover skills.

I'm not sure if he's fast enough to play SS in the NFL. I do know that if he had an entire offseason to do speed work and he dropped some weight he'd have a better shot as a 4th or 5th (if the team keeps that many) safety for the team.

We all know he's fantastic as a special teamer and with more speed would be a SS that's feared for his hitting.

But, I do think it's very possible he's cut this year. We haven't see yet what proclivity Saban has for keeping just special teamers (Wanny did hurt the team with keeping TOO many ST guys and not enough quality position backups). I think that this might be a reason Welker and the team have put so much emphasis on him playing WR regularly. We shall see.

Question: can a player (like a Bua) be signed to the practice squad after he's played one full season on the big team as long as he hasn't played more than 3 years in the league?

I have a feeling that it's all based on how many games the player was active for in that season but I'm still not sure. What I mean is Vernon Carey was cut (which we all know he won't be) and not claimed by another team, he could be put on our PS because I don't think he was active for many games last year so he would qualify.

He was horrible as I said yesterday, he blew a bunch of zone coverages. He is a ST player.

OK, I think I'm going to go and try to look that up..if you or anyone finds out for sure let me know. thanks

all right I found something.......one bonus is that now we can have 8 players on the practice squad!

Practice Squad Eligibility

A team may establish a practice squad of no more than eight* players who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit or who were on the 45-player active list for less than nine regular season games during their only accrued season. A player cannot participate on the practice squad for more than two seasons.

* Expanded from five at the 2004 league meeting

to me that says that since Bua was on the active roster for MORE than 9 games then he is not longer eligible for the practice squad.

If anyone reads that different please let me know!
