and i really could care less who burns my opinion because it is just that....
yes we all knew pretty much that Bettis was going to retire after this year....the only person that doesnt know is Jerome Bettis....

NOW to the point....doesnt it raise anybody's eyebrows to the fact that they rose from perverbial ash to make it to the Birthplace of Jerome Bettis? in his final game??? that story is too good to be true

Rose from the ash?

They were a 15-1 team last year and despite being a #6 seed this year, they were 11-5 (which is an unusually good record for the #6 seed), had a better record than the #3 seed, and were really much better than a #6 seed and probably could have beat up on the NFC's 2-6 seeds.

You're making it sound like they were some 9-7 juggernaut who stunk in the regular season and didn't show signs of dominance.

Next silly conspiracy theory, please.

No they weren't. What in the hell are you talking about?

They had a bad THREE WEEKS. They started the season 7-2 and looked like they were going to win the division. Ben got hurt, Maddox took over, they lost against the Ravens, which they should have won, Ben comes back and is rusty and they lose to a dominating Indy team on the road, the Bengals beat them in a tight one on the road...then they finish the regular season with four consecutive wins. In fact, the team was 9-3 in games that he played.

I fail to see how that was a "bad year".

In addition, they were picked by a lot of sportswriters to win the wild card round, and Charles Robinson stated they were easily capable of toppling the Colts well in advance of the game. This was no shock to most of us after the first two playoff games.

I proclaimed them in serious trouble after they dropped 3 in a row to 7-5, but when they won their remaining regular season games, that was off. And having seen many of their games, I knew they'd be tough in the playoffs.

Yea, but you know, if you make a bold opinion like that, you should be able to actually defend it.

In his birthplace...exactly. Sometimes it doesn't sound so far fetched. It wouldn't surprise me If it was rigged.

:shakeno:

Yeah. The NFL puts its entire integrity on the line because it wants a running back most of the country doesn't really care about to play the superbowl at home.

:shakeno:

Right.

Glad to see someone else believes in such foolishness.

I'm still waiting on a good explanation as to how the Steelers were having a "bad year". Why is it that all of the Patriot fans were saying they were glad they lost because they'd rather play the Jaguars?

if it were rigged it wouldn't have come down to pittsburgh vs. seattle. no way. nobody knows anything about seattle. maybe "manning vs. manning" would have been a good scenario for rigging. pittsburgh is a strong team that had a bad stretch of games. roethlisberger had an injury at that point as well. i think they did a lot better in the playoffs this year for 2 reasons: 1. roethlisberger has matured and 2. they didn't have that #1-seed pressure on them. teams love to be disrespected. everybody was playing the "no respect" card, but only pittsburgh was playing it legitimately.

maybe it IS rigged. and troy polamalu and ben roethlisberger are robots...

Still waiting for that explanation on how the Steelers were having a "bad year". You posted the topic for discussion, now discuss! Don't be one of those who starts a topic than disappears.
