I hate to say anything about it but...

The Steelers were 11-5 - a very good record - and two of those losses are almost exclusively the fault of Tommy Maddox. Had Roethlisberger (or even Charlie Batch) started those games, the Steelers were likely a 13-3 team.

The fact is they're a much better team than their record because of that, and their winning should be surprising nobody. It's already been said, but next to nobody cares about Jerome Bettis. A far more marketable face would've been Peyton Manning. In fact, the league would be happy to have Peyton Manning in the Superbowl against the MVP, or even against an underdog wild-card team.

they had a lot of injuries mid season which made them look like a mediocre team... but the fact is they are better than that steelers team of last year that was 15-1 i think... now that they are all healthy they are playing like they should...

i know it looks like a great story, but personally i think seattle will beat them to end it there...

Yea but he started the thread a while ago and disappeared! :)

anywho I took the day off of work tomorrow so .....I'LL BE EXPECTING A RESPONSE

thanx for waiting up i didnt know i was that loved...anyway...how often does it happen when a "great player gets to end his career in his birthplace???"

And Perverbial ash meaning they lost 3 straight and were counted out of EVERYTHING. how often does the 6th spot make it to the superbowl?

and it was food for thought...you know a little ray of sunshine in your otherwise black and white worlds, just something to think outside the box with...thats why i said and will reiterate i dont care about your opinion but since you asked so nicely and waited so long for a reply there it goes...

Glad to see someone else believes in such foolishness.

I'm still waiting on a good explanation as to how the Steelers were having a "bad year". Why is it that all of the Patriot fans were saying they were glad they lost because they'd rather play the Jaguars?

Never said they were...

I am not saying it is rigged. I am just saying I wouldn't be surprised If it was. Too many coincidences at times...

How often does the 6th seed have an 11-5 record, a better record than the #4 seed, and play like a #1 seed?

I don't think most football pundits really considered Pittsburgh a sixth seed in terms of quality. The AFC is spilling with the great teams. The NFC had mostly the pretenders this year. Pittsburgh would have eaten the NFC alive.

Do not forget--Pittsburgh followed what seemed to be a season killing 3 game losing streak with a 4 game winning streak

Not exactly hard for there to be coincidences due to all the possible angles.

For instance, if somebody once went to the dentist in Miami and oh, super bowl XLI is held in Miami....OMG HE'S RETURNING TO THE CITY WHERE HE HAD HIS FIRST DENTAL WORK DONE!

I just can't wait for the 2 hour special on Jerome's parents and how great of a guy he is and how his teamates cry when they lose in the playoffs because 'they just want him to go out a champion', etc, etc. Cmon the guys been a backup for what 6 years now? They've been trying to replace him every year only to have guys get hurt. Pittsburgh takes the ball down the field, he gets a 2 yard carry to get a TD then celebrates for 10 mins on the field like hes awesome. Bettis is a great short yardage guy, a likeable guy, had a good career but Ive never seen such a fuss over a guy that a team has been trying to replace for half a decade. His story is neato and all but lets give it a rest. They are really stretching for something to write about and talk about this week because both teams are pretty dang boring.

Again, they're only where they are because of a bad luck injury to Carson Palmer. If he doesn't go down we're probably looking at a Colts v Seahawks Super Bowl.

and i really could care less who burns my opinion because it is just that....
yes we all knew pretty much that Bettis was going to retire after this year....the only person that doesnt know is Jerome Bettis....

NOW to the point....doesnt it raise anybody's eyebrows to the fact that they rose from perverbial ash to make it to the Birthplace of Jerome Bettis? in his final game??? that story is too good to be true

Yeah but you're OPINION is wrong. Bad year?? Rose from the ashes???
What kind of crack are you smoking anyway. Do you see flying pink elephants too?

You really should stop while you are behind.
There is ZERO shock that the Steelers were a playoff team.
Rising from the ashes..... ashes being a 3 game losing streak?

C'mon dude, give it up.....the entire season was obviously rigged to get Bettis to Detroit....how can you not see it.

Like that call in Indy where the guy had the interception clearly and the ref took it away for no reason just to help out the.......oh wait....nevermind.

 people kill me sometimes with the off-the-wall **** they come up with.

In his birthplace...exactly. Sometimes it doesn't sound so far fetched. It wouldn't surprise me If it was rigged.

did you even contemplate how many people would have to be complicit and keep their mouths shut for that to happen?
