I have to give credit to the defense....

Hard to do much against a brutal passing offense when your defense is on the field for almost a quarter longer than your opponent. The defense did well. I can't fault phillip wheeler for being told to cover someone one-on-one. It isn't his call and not his fault the staff can't see how much he blows. Given this and besides the initial drive, the defense covered well all day and was all over rodgers. What more can you do?

The defense did a decent job all game, but fell apart at the end. Can't blame them too much, since the offense didn't show up until the second half! Philbin had 2 weeks to prepare his team, and the offense STILL comes out flat in the first half. IMO, Miami lost because they could only score 3 points in the first half.

I wonder who will be the Head Coach and QB next year?

Giving up a GW 60 yd TD drive wasn't problematic to you?

Not as problematic as scoring 3 in the 1st half, turning it over twice and having your ST set you up with a blocked punt only to not be able to put anything on the board was.

Earl Mitchell showed more awareness today. I've criticized him for slanting aimlessly but today it looked better. He filled the proper gap a couple of times.

Today was an up effort from the defense. We won't always get that intensity level for the bulk of the game. To blow it down the stretch was disgusting. Forget about the final possession. If we merely force a punt on the prior Green Bay possession we retain the 7 point lead and will get overtime at worst.

To give up 10 points on the final two possessions wipes out the positives from earlier. We need playmakers on defense. Landry is an offensive playmaker. When Tannehill lofted that pass into the end zone on 3rd down I didn't have much confidence. The Dolphins have only had a handful of guys in franchise history who can go up and confidently pluck that ball. Landry did it. I gulped. I don't gulp on defense. I watch Reshad Jones drop the sideline interception opportunity and don't think much about it. That's his level.

The CBs were absolutely atrocious the entire game. How many 3d and longs did the Packers convert? Is that not a reocurring problem with this defense? The last two Packers drives results in 10 points and Finegan should have turned Cobb inside on the fake spike play and tackled him in bounds. Game over if he does. You call that a good defensive effort?

Tannehill was bad in the first half but came back strong. This loss was to the best QB in the NFL and it came down to the last play of the game. There were problems with execution on both sides of the ball and the coaching was horrible. That's why they lost.

I've said it before and I will continue to say it. Kevin Coyle doesn't put his players in the best positions to succeed. He's too whetted to his scheme. He doesn't adapt his scheme to his players' strengths. Putting Wheeler in that coverage at the end was beyond idiotic.

Moreover, he won't give enough run to the younger guys. Note the Packer backup corners came in but the announcers commented that they had considerable experience. Meanwhile, Coyle barely plays young guys. Jamar Taylor can't get more run? McCain shows good burst in pass rush but can't show it. Jordie Tripp could get some snaps. You can work these guys into situations where they can develop and to build on their strengths.
