I kinda feel bad for Matt Moore

of course he's better than tyler palko...that kids trash...moore has i'd say top 20 upside i guess...but thats not good enough to get us over the hump...thats just more treading water

I agree. Finding someone better could prove difficult too.

Get Matt Moore an Alshon Jeffery-type in the Red Zone in which he can throw a jump ball up for a TD...oh yeah...improve the line enough that you can run the **** over people in tight.

Brandon Marshall...

Matt Moore just doesn't know how to throw a fade.

Sad to say, that finding someone better could prove not only difficult, but, costly as well ... lets hope for the best, looks like Moore is going to be the guy Miami lives or dies with in 2012 ... Most tend to think Flynn might be the answer, I'm not so sure he won't need a learning curve if he signs with another team ...
as for the talking heads in the media, well they just talk ... Bradford might still have upside, but he sure needs alot more help than Moore does in Miami ...

I agree with most of what you are saying, but I don't understand why Moore doesn't have upside. Can't some of his weaknesses be corrected with coaching? He has limited starts over his career too. Why can't he continue to improve? I am asking because I want to understand this stuff better. I wish I had a better grasp of this QB thing for my own education.

He was undrafted, therefore he has no upside.

his fumbling is a trend...his taking bad sacks a trend...i think thats a part of him as a player...how you gonna improve his ball placement and accuracy on underneath routes when he's got a clean pocket and can deliver from a level platform and still miss...repeatedly...these things are a part of the package...they come with the kid

i don't see it changing...this isn't some guy first or second year in the league...he's been in the league long enough to say some things are a part of the player

His sack total isn't horrible. Moore was sacked 36 times in 13 games. Aaaron Rogers was sacked 36 times in 15 games, Tom Brady was sacked 32 times in 16 games, and Drew Brees was sacked 24 times in 16 games.

He does fumble too much and needs to learn to protect the ball better. He fumbled 14 times in 13 games compared to only 11 fumbles COMBINED for Rogers, Brady and Brees on the season.

You are looking at sack volume numbers.

Drew Brees was sacked on 3.7% of his total drops.
Aaron Rodgers was sacked 6.7% of the time.
Tom Brady was sacked 5.0% of the time.
Matt Moore was sacked 9.4% of the time.

The only quarterbacks who were sacked a higher percentage of the time than Matt Moore were Kevin Kolb and Tim Tebow.

Isn't that backward thinking though??.... If you get something for cheap, isn't all you have upside?

Bradford needs to be a top 5 QB in the league or he fails to live up to his potential....Moore, as an UDFA, already has lived up to his potential by simply making a roster.... going 6-3 over his last 9 shows his upside.

It's the same reason I laugh at Jets fans when they talk about Sanchez's upside.... If you're still hyping upside in a top 5 pick after 3 years of playing, then IMO you missed on the pick and are simply trying to make yourself feel better about it.

Exactly! That is my point. My comment about being undrafted means no upside is simply my sarcastic way of stating the sole reason why I feels some fans think he has no upside.

Gotcha... my fault.... Damn Sarcasm and the internet LOL

What I would like to know is the time from snap to sack or release average each QB had.

Obviously Brady has alot of time. Moore's sack #'s don't worry me as far as him being the reason. I believe he was pressured alot and qucikly comparitively.

However the issue is holding on to the ball. That is something I don't know how they teach. But, how many of his fumbles came on blind side sacks that most QB'S fumble on? I know it's an issue and I saw a few times that were solely on Moore. But how many of them were actually blind side hits?

yeah and all thats not on the oline...its also about when you take sacks...the timing...in the red zone etc...i think he takes bad sacks in critical moments...some of that is cause the guys a pretty good mobile move player and he thinks he can always make a play and some of that is lack of feel for pressure...some of the sacks he took this year we're momentum changers etc and they were on him for not unloading the rock

some of those sacks might as well be turnovers...you give the opposition short fields etc...

as for the upside stuff i don't think his reading the defense is a problem...i think he made good reads this year so i can't say with more time in the film room his reads will get much better...i think we may see some improvement in his recognition at the los of free blitzers etc but this isn't a guy coming off his second year in the league like bradford...this kids been in the league long enough where not just the fans but the league itself have labeled him...thus the backup money contract over 2 years with us...if the league thought better of him he would have gone somewhere else for more money...

i have no problem with the kid being the starter for us but even if he puts together another season relatively close to what he did this year i wouldn't be throwin a massive money long term contract to him...i think we'll regret it

biggest issues for me spotty ball placement and accuracy lack of ball security the fumbles pretty much one per game is not something to just blow off and the bad timing sacks...

Yeah but theory is Moore has proven to of failed and Bradford hasn't yet. Moore has plenty of time to prove them wrong if he really has the stuff.

I never feel sorry for pro athletes though. They all live at least a bit of the dream unlike us working stiffs.

Moore held onto the ball too long in many games, like the Patriots game in the second half where he basically forced the otehr team to sack him because he wouldn't throw the damn ball away. Moore's biggest flaw is the mental aspect of his game. I don't think his football IQ is anywhere near Drew, Brady, or Aaron. Sometimes he just locks into whatever he's doing and doesn't think. He's got a bit of tunnel vision when it gets tense and pressure filled.

I like him as a back-up and if we can't get anyone next year, he can start but I can guarantee you next year, he will not put up these same numbers. ( see Carolina)
