of course he's better than tyler palko...that kids trash...moore has i'd say top 20 upside i guess...but thats not good enough to get us over the hump...thats just more treading water
I agree. Finding someone better could prove difficult too.

Get Matt Moore an Alshon Jeffery-type in the Red Zone in which he can throw a jump ball up for a TD...oh yeah...improve the line enough that you can run the **** over people in tight.
Sad to say, that finding someone better could prove not only difficult, but, costly as well ... lets hope for the best, looks like Moore is going to be the guy Miami lives or dies with in 2012 ... Most tend to think Flynn might be the answer, I'm not so sure he won't need a learning curve if he signs with another team ...I agree. Finding someone better could prove difficult too.
I agree with most of what you are saying, but I don't understand why Moore doesn't have upside. Can't some of his weaknesses be corrected with coaching? He has limited starts over his career too. Why can't he continue to improve? I am asking because I want to understand this stuff better. I wish I had a better grasp of this QB thing for my own education.
his fumbling is a trend...his taking bad sacks a trend...i think thats a part of him as a player...how you gonna improve his ball placement and accuracy on underneath routes when he's got a clean pocket and can deliver from a level platform and still miss...repeatedly...these things are a part of the package...they come with the kid
i don't see it changing...this isn't some guy first or second year in the league...he's been in the league long enough to say some things are a part of the player
His sack total isn't horrible. Moore was sacked 36 times in 13 games. Aaaron Rogers was sacked 36 times in 15 games, Tom Brady was sacked 32 times in 16 games, and Drew Brees was sacked 24 times in 16 games.
He does fumble too much and needs to learn to protect the ball better. He fumbled 14 times in 13 games compared to only 11 fumbles COMBINED for Rogers, Brady and Brees on the season.
He was undrafted, therefore he has no upside.
Isn't that backward thinking though??.... If you get something for cheap, isn't all you have upside?
Bradford needs to be a top 5 QB in the league or he fails to live up to his potential....Moore, as an UDFA, already has lived up to his potential by simply making a roster.... going 6-3 over his last 9 shows his upside.
It's the same reason I laugh at Jets fans when they talk about Sanchez's upside.... If you're still hyping upside in a top 5 pick after 3 years of playing, then IMO you missed on the pick and are simply trying to make yourself feel better about it.
Exactly! That is my point. My comment about being undrafted means no upside is simply my sarcastic way of stating the sole reason why I feels some fans think he has no upside.
You are looking at sack volume numbers.
Drew Brees was sacked on 3.7% of his total drops.
Aaron Rodgers was sacked 6.7% of the time.
Tom Brady was sacked 5.0% of the time.
Matt Moore was sacked 9.4% of the time.
The only quarterbacks who were sacked a higher percentage of the time than Matt Moore were Kevin Kolb and Tim Tebow.

What I would like to know is the time from snap to sack or release average each QB had.
Obviously Brady has alot of time. Moore's sack #'s don't worry me as far as him being the reason. I believe he was pressured alot and qucikly comparitively.
However the issue is holding on to the ball. That is something I don't know how they teach. But, how many of his fumbles came on blind side sacks that most QB'S fumble on? I know it's an issue and I saw a few times that were solely on Moore. But how many of them were actually blind side hits?
