I know we have Ronnie, but I still regret not getting DJ.

your right... was 199 the right spot for Tom Brady??

I'd take him over any QB in the NFL right now.
Right....if you'd taken Tom Brady number 1.....would there be one single person questioning the genius of that pick?

yeah ive been checking up on chiefs camp reports to see how johnson was doing and hes been amazing so far... sucks we couldn't get him but im happy with what we got...

now? no, because hindsight is 20/20... but at the time, yeah, the GM of that team would have been abused by fans.

There were also a lot of people who thought he would be the safest pick in the draft...

Of course there were some gurus who thought different so everybody listened to them instead of thinking for themselves.

Which is a common occurence around here....

Infins..I too was a DJ supporter this draft. While I thought that at #2 overall was a bit of a reach for a LB, he would have been a great addition and something for Saban to build upon...However, I also did and still feel that there is a very good chance that something will go wrong with RW comeback. Either he may quit again, get injured in his comeback bid (perhaps trying to do too much too soon), get caught in another positive drug test or just not have the edge anymore when he gets out on the field for real. Those things seem to be somewhat resolved (although, he is only one joint away from another susp) so people now will question us going after Brown instead of someone else..My thoughts right now are that as great as DJ might look in the aqua and orange, and Brown hasn't proven anything yet...in reality, neither has DJ...Of course every draft class has the one or two guys that many pass on and they turn out to be elite athletes...

Nah, we got better value with our picks. Rather have Crowder than Johnson.

Are you serious? Johnson is a waaaaaay better player than Crowder and has his head screwed on straight. No major injuries in his past either.

I don't think he was saying Croder is as good as DJ. He's just saying we filled the LB need with a value pick in Crowder.

Sorry, but I didn't see DJ as a #2 overall then and I don't now.

Was not a huge fan of DJ going into the draft. He may turn out to be a beast. But I'm happy with what we got.

Had we slipped down in the 1st, I would have taken Rolle over DJ though in spots 7-10.

The team that will regret that pick for eternity is Detroit not us.

crowder was a better value pick than taking dj at number 2 are bigest need was a qb and back alex was gone ronnie was the safe and smart pick

Probably he should have said "Rather have Crowder and Brown, than DJ."

You don't take an OLB at #2 overall unlesss you have some sort of guarantee it's the second coming of lawrence taylor, obviously that wasn't the case at the time.

I actually wish Miami could somehow get over half of the first round picks and somehow work them in with cheap contracts.

If we had taken DJ at #2 everyone would have been screaming that Saban is just like Wanny.....Wasting picks on an already strong D while our offense suffers. We had no legitimate running back. Ronnie Brown, Caddy Williams, and Cedric Benson were available. Saban made the pick that would do the Dolphins the most good.
