I know we have Ronnie, but I still regret not getting DJ.

From the games that I saw DJ play (on tv), yes, his motor is always running, but a lot of times he was getting blowned up at the line. His strength was always a question...but then again, depends on the scheme.

Not being a homer here, but watch out for Shawne Merriman (MD). The guy is a specimen..plays hybrid DE and LB. I honestly cant believe a guy of his size moves around so darn good. Unfortunately, he has been slowed down by an aching hammy, but should be 100% this weekend. I dont think you can compare DJ vs. Merriman. Merriman is far more superior than DJ. (and that concludes todays blowing my own horn segment)---carry on.

Shawn Merrimen I thought was a better LB. RB's have little value at the top of the draft, but that was the biggest need. Noone knew Ricky was coming back, and I don't believe the team can count on him for anything right now, if he gains one yard it would've been worth taking him back. Mike Williams was the best player in the draft, IMO. Derrick Johnson will be a good player, but I still believe KC is a bad team, and will be the most dissapointing team in the league, which is good cause I like watching that old crybaby choke up.

You my friend are a GOOD MAN!

(edit): Until we play you of course...;-)

maybe Rodgers would have been better since our QBs look dont look good right now...but who knows :(

Are you serious? Johnson is a waaaaaay better player than Crowder and has his head screwed on straight. No major injuries in his past either.

Yes, I'm serious. Your giving DJ way to much credit too soon. He is not "waaaaay" better than Crowder. He hasn't done anything on the field yet. Crowder has much better instincts, leading the SEC in tackles is no small accomplishment. Yeah DJ's fast, so what? Theres a reason he slipped so far in the draft, he gets himself out of position alot, he's roamer, he tries to hard to make big plays rather than making sure tackles. Not sure what your saying about "Head screwed on straight" comment :shakeno: . Injuries okay. But I'd take Ronnie at 2 and Channing in the 3rd over DJ anyday.

Well said. I definitely think Merriman will be the best LB to come out of this draft.

I agree with you Mega. DJ is gonna be huge, but DJ just wasn't a glaring need. We needed offense badly. I mean BADLY. In the state that we are in our defense is easier to fix right now than our offense. Even if we did go defense in the first round, we needed a CB, pronto.

Take a look at the stats and trophies and you will see that DJ has out performed Crowder at every stage in their careers. I'm not dissing Crowder because he's on our team, I'm just stating the facts. Johnson is a leader and has proven it on and off the field.

Cheer up Mega, you shouldn't regret anything....you didn't make the choice...therefore you have nothing to regret. :D

I disagree, I was never a big fan of Merriman. Sure the guy looked huge laying people out in college but he's in the NFL now. Seeing as he'll be a LB in the Chargers defense I seriously question his coverage skills. I think he'll get schooled often on passing plays unless they constantly blitz him.

I know I know, but I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Crowder got into trouble while in school, DJ didn't.
