I may be the craziest guy on this board...but I think the team will rally around this

Anything is possible but I am not convinced the Dolphins have the leadership in place to "rally the troops." That includes players and coaches.

Well Ritchie was supposedly a leader so thats a sad statement on current leadership

Winning is like throwing water on this troll bonfire. It's real easy to see a team do this. First of all Nate Garner held his own in Richies spot and Martin just bailed Ireland out of one of his many failed draft picks. Even with the well documented heartbreak losses this is the best team in years. Thank god there's the long week to get a few guys in the trainers rooms. I say they come out strong and play well despite the sideshow.

Well, I dont think Garner, Mckinnie, Jerry, and Clabo are worried about anything other than Tampa monday night.

Watkins might have to see some duty. I think its more they are going to be focused on the game. The media thing is just playground for the rest of us.

Because this is the Miami Dolphins, the media will hate on us, so there is an "us against the world" mentality here.

I'm still not sure why everyone seems to think the Chargers will be an easy win for us. I'm not even sure it's a winnable game. Tampa, Carolina, and NY are all winnable. San Diego, not so much.

Depending on which Rivers shows up, I think it's a very winnable game. He has a tendency to look either like a Pro Bowl top 5 QB one game or a guy who throws 3...4 interceptions and you just want to cut the next day. Our secondary could have a feast if the front seven is able to get to him and the Chargers OLine isn't exactly formidable.

Defensively, they aren't a great team. Bottom five in fact. You always know you're in a game even if they lead by 14-17 in the first half since they have a really bad habit of choking away games where they lead big. So Cal fans are all too familiar with this inconsistent Chargers team especially when playing on the east coast.

I agree but now depth becomes an even greater issue.

Just because somthing seemed a way for a part of a game does not mean that the line will perfrom better overall.
MArtin and Incognito were both better players than their backups and depth has one from bad to horrible

Why would they rally around Martin? They're making it pretty damn clear in their statements today that they are behind Incognito. It's being reported that the sentiment inside the locker room -- asked privately -- is far more behind Incognito. Brent Grimes wife jumped on twitter and was posting some rowdy stuff in defense of Richie.

Now that he's suspended, what do they rally around? The coach who suspended him? Themselves for being stuck in this ****ty situation? I guess that could be the ticket.

I think it's clear why Ritchie was suspended so that won't be the issue. I believe we will see a lot of fight in the team as they rally around each other.

Based on what I've seen, as I said in another thread, nobody really had a bad thing to say about either player and wished Martin well in his issues. Hell Cam Wake even said yesterday "Anybody want to talk about the Bengals game? Or the Bucs?"

Truth be told even with them supporting Richie, I think it would be a bigger distraction if Martin or Richie were there.

I can see a scenario where the Dolphins rally around each other and play better, especially the OLine. They will know that the media and fans are looking at them under the microscope, looking and waiting for them to fail. If nothing else, they will be very focused on their roles for the rest of the season.

I just dont see how losing two starters is going to make the line better. We now have one good olineman on the roster.
I mean maybe if we took Ellerbee and Wheeler out of the lineup their backups might play better but the odds are against it
Clabo was benched for a reason, Incognito was intrenched as a starter for a reason same with Martin.

It really is us against the world right now and basically everyone is ruling Miami out for a winning season let alone the playoffs. But this is the type of crazy situation that can bring a team closer together. A Locker room that obviously wasn't 100% ok now has basically everyone else rooting against the organization and calling them names and making accusations and wanting them to fail. Miami is just starting to get healthy, they are coming off there best win, and the 2 guys that are gone, although starters, were not having good seasons at all.

This thing could go the complete over way and that is what everyone is expecting, but the football field now becomes a sanctuary for this team a chance to prove the doubters wrong and there is only 1 way to try and sitance themselves from this story....Its win.

Tampa,San Diego,Carolina,Jets

They are all winnable games and we're going to see how close this team really is for the rest of the year. Philbin's job may be on the line and call me crazy, but I think the team rally's and makes the playoffs.

Like they said in major league....Theres only 1 thing left to do...WIN THE WHOLE GOD DAMN THING.

I was thinking the same thing, that coupled with the gritty win over the Bengals might just actually turn this season around. Team may be playing with a chip on their shoulder. Who knows, maybe in a few years we can win a Super Bowl and they can send a picture of their rings to Martin and say "wish you were here"
