I think Feeley got a bum rap and this is why...

First, I just joined and just posted a long introduction letter. I'm also an Eagles fan, but I didn't join your board to bust anyone's chops or anything like that. I love talking football--good constructive conversation.

At any rate, I believe that when Spielman acquired Feeley, he really believed he could be a good QB--the trouble is, Wannstadt had too much allegience to Fiedler. In 2001, Feely came on for the Birds in a meaningless game against the Bucs at the end of the season. They were down by 10 with about 5 minutes left and Donnie Abraham was still in the game for the Bucs--at that time, he was a starting corner. Feeley drove the Birds down TWICE in the closing minutes to win 17-13.

In 2002, when McNabb and Detmer got hurt, he came on and went 4-1. The only loss was an OT loss to the Giants that should have been a win, except that David Akers missed a 35 yard FG in regulation and Feeley threw a questionable INT (Brandon Short absolutely mugged Chad Lewis) and the Giants won.

The rap on AJ was that he wasn't much of a practice player, but could do well in games.

When Saban took over and hired Linehan, it wasn't much of a secret that they were going after Frerotte. That had to erode Feeley's confidence even more.

The question you have to ask yourselves is this: How did this guy go 4-1 for a team that lost it's leader in the middle of a playoff run and then crap out in the space of 2 seasons?

I agree. Feeley did get a bum rap. A lot of people think he sucks, I think he's even worse than that.

I think the pick for ANOTHER touchdown sealed the deal for poor Feeley. He had his chances and he failed. Thats all there is to say. We lost a couple of games last year because of these stupid passes that should have just been throw away. I think we will do much better with a QB that at least knows when to say when and doesn't try to be the hero.

Feeley sucks donkey d * c k!! This is just another of the many excuses for AJ. He is garbage, he doesn't even warrant a roster spot for the school of the deaf and blind. If anybody that ever played for the Dolphins that got a bum rap was Brian Griese, but you can thank Wanny and Spiel for that.

Alot of us thought that A.J. could be a starter for this team. We made all sorts of excuses for him (o-line, coaching, running game etc.). The bottom line is that this pre season when he should have come in a showed passion and fire, he had the deer in the headlights look. He looked lost and inept enough to be dropped down to the 3rd string role. Sorry, he sucks and he is not the future of this franchise (I hope). Oh, welcome to the board.

Yea... he had his bum rapped on national TV and he was skipping in pain holdin his sore cheek!

This is the second thread I see you making fun of feeley for this. Neither time did you prove a point, you just made a lame joke.

The guy threw a TD in pain. For most fans it would see it as showing toughness in a qb. You use it to make a hiney joke. :shakeno: If you don't like feeley that is fine. There are plenty of reasons to say he isn't a good QB. That isn't one of them.

Sheesh! Are you a relative of Feeley's? No one likes to be made fun of but this is a Forum where everything is fair game.

hey ive made my points about feeley.. and NO! I disagree .. it didnt show toughness to me... actually the opposite. hes a crybaby... AND i think it damn funny watching it... .reaL FUNNY... and i dont c are if you dont like me for it.
You can know Gus for headbutting the wall... Ill knock AJ for skipping like a sissy. Guys play through pain all the time the NFL...

But These are public figures... they should be able to laugh at life.... If AJ couldnt watch that on TV and have laugh then ...my he should play football where they dont care about football.

What about when he dislocated his finger then came back into the game? Still a sissy? The guy was killed every game he started last year and that's what you remember?

I agree. I also think that Ray Lucas got a bum rap.

Brian Greise got the real bum rap.

He should have been retained last year and there should never have been a resigning of Fiedler and no Feeley trade.

Did you see how poorly Pittsburg played against Notre Dame. Wanny is a team destroyer from within.

Feeley did get a bum rap. He had to deal with all that crap last year and still managed to play well for a few games at the end of the season, at least showing some potential to become a better QB. He got cheated by Saban slanting the job to Frerotte so early without Feeley even getting a real chance to compete. With that said, his last failed oppurtunity was his own fault, and that is without question. A 4-17 night against the Falcons makes me believe he didn't even wanna see the field on sundays for fear of getting hurt. With our line I wouldn't blame him.
