Feeley did get a bum rap. He had to deal with all that crap last year and still managed to play well for a few games at the end of the season, at least showing some potential to become a better QB. He got cheated by Saban slanting the job to Frerotte so early without Feeley even getting a real chance to compete. With that said, his last failed oppurtunity was his own fault, and that is without question. A 4-17 night against the Falcons makes me believe he didn't even wanna see the field on sundays for fear of getting hurt. With our line I wouldn't blame him.

Which games did he play well in? I remember a good pass in the NE game, but that was on the heels of a poor game. He didn't throw any ints but he tripled his sacks. I realize that his performance in the previous games set a very low bar, but at no point can you say he played well.

Everytime Feeley did have a chance to make a big play for the Dolphins and possibly win them the game last year he failed miserably. Against New England he didn't win us crap, Tom Brady and our Defense won us that game. Plus the ball that Thompson caught was a crappy throw. Feeley won't be on this roster next year and I hope Miami finally drafts a QB in the first round. We need to find another QB we can call our own like Marino, someone we can count on for 10+ years!

In 2001, Feely came on for the Birds in a meaningless game against the Bucs at the end of the season. They were down by 10 with about 5 minutes left and Donnie Abraham was still in the game for the Bucs--at that time, he was a starting corner. Feeley drove the Birds down TWICE in the closing minutes to win 17-13.

In 2002, when McNabb and Detmer got hurt, he came on and went 4-1. The only loss was an OT loss to the Giants that should have been a win, except that David Akers missed a 35 yard FG in regulation and Feeley threw a questionable INT (Brandon Short absolutely mugged Chad Lewis) and the Giants won.

The rap on AJ was that he wasn't much of a practice player, but could do well in games.

When Saban took over and hired Linehan, it wasn't much of a secret that they were going after Frerotte. That had to erode Feeley's confidence even more.

The question you have to ask yourselves is this: How did this guy go 4-1 for a team that lost it's leader in the middle of a playoff run and then crap out in the space of 2 seasons?

I don't know, how did Ryan Leaf ever complete a NFL pass?? How did Dilfer ever lead a team to a SB?? Why do we park our cars on driveways and drive our cars on parkways?? Such are the questions of the universe. I guess ya should go hire a mystic palm reader, maybe she can help ya. All I know for sure is that AJ Feelme is the OTHER teams best player. He SUCKS plain and simple. Not only should he be cut, but he should be taken out and beaten a few times first, jus so he gets the point and never decides to come back here again.....IMO.

So what if he didn't have the PERFECT opportunity who does. Great talents find away to get noticed. Further, anyone who is a bad practice player is likely not a great player. Any great player had great practice at some point in time.

Who cares is the bottom line. You should be more upset management has not signed a great QB in the last 7 years. It is a management error to not have Marino grooming a quality stud before he left. What a waste.

I think it's a fair question. To be honest, I don't know if any quarterback can put up big numbers behind this current offensive line. A qb has a clock in his head and if he's constantly being pounded, the quarterback naturally will try to speed things up to try to make a play. I think that's part of AJ's problems right now. He was being hit pretty consistently last year, even on three-step drops. So I think it is partly a confidence thing. He showed flashes last year, but has never been consistent enough to gain the confidence of the coaching staff.

I'm not sure that I know what AJ's problem is, but it is troubling that he seems to have gone from having potential to just having the runs.

I think inFINS hit it closest in his history-making post: Feeley seems to be fragile of mind - which is a shame, since he sure showed toughness of body and spirit last season.

I think you make an interesting point, mostly because I believe it somewhat. This is a tough business though, and Feeley realy did very little to win the job this year. However, Gus didn't do much either. I'll tell you who really got the bum rap. Greise. We should still have him and our problems would be much less.He really got ripped off in the whole Wanny-Feidler love affair. But this is all un-fixable now anyway.

You can only play who's next on the schedule. Last season, among other problems, the Dolphins had no O line. I'd like to see what he could have done if you guys had a decent O line in fornt of him.

...and you can only play alongside the other 10 guys on the field. You have to make the best of the opportunities presented to you and Feeley didn't. AJ has been given several chances. The problem with him is it has always been "IF" - he hasn't actually done anything since we got him. There's no doubt he has the physical tools, but he doesn't seem to have the mental aspect needed to be a successful QB.
