I think Feeley got a bum rap and this is why...

AMEN to that...Jay fell short in ALOT of areas...but he was tough...without putting on a show ,,and theatrics.

He was a tough SOB. No arm, and consistently - and tragically - overestimated his own abilities, but he was tough.

Feeley sure came across as tough when he played through that horrific butt injury last year, but there's something lacking there, and it seems to be mental.

Fiedler was always saying that he should be the starter; that's something I've never seen Feeley quoted as saying - ever. And that's curious, given the enormous ego necessary to play QB.

The problem with AJ is the problem with Gus is the problem with Sage was the problem with Brian Griese. They are all pocket QBs who need good protection infront of them. When given time or a short passing game to execute they can all be effective (not sure about Sage, but it holds with the other three). A head coach or offensive coordinator needs to understand the level of talent that we possess at both QB and Offensive line. If we can't get extended protection we need to have a short passing game with slants and dumpoffs with maybe an occasional play action bomb. Feeley simply has been put behind a laughing stock oline and his coaches in miami were never behind him. Maybe he needs to go to detroit or chicago to prove his worth or failure but he's still a question mark in my book due mainly to joke of an offense he was handed and expected to do something with. Steve Young looked like dirt when a crap team like Tampa. It took him coming to San Fran and a good coach to finally actualize his abilities. I dont bring him up to compare him to feeley but rather to point out if a Hall of Famer like Young can look like drek behind a bad team you cant write off a QB with the physical tools of Feeley until you see him on a real team

All I have to say at this point about the QB situation in Miami is, it takes time, development and patience to mold a QB into a great QB and Im not sure that has been given to Sage or Feeley (Gus' is too old for that now.)

If ANYONE thinks a inexperienced QB can just show up and take "the bull by the horns" (especially without OL support) they are mistaken. Even McNabb struggled early on with some very tough games, however, Reid made it clear McNabb was his guy, PERIOD.

If you think Feeley has played bad, you would be amazed how badly Farve played early on in his career. Yeah, the future Hall of Fame QB looked ALOT worse than Feeley has and Sage looks like a super hero compared to Farves early years.

Bottom line, whether you are for Feeley or hate him or inbetween, next year when the Dolphins get a new QB, they need to give that QB time to develope and show him the support ALL young QBs need and not give him the shot to start the same way they gave Feeley that chance.

I agree for the most part. We gave Ears way to many years to prove that he was the inadequeate qb that we had.

And feeley for what we gave for him he should have been the starter all year long last year. Whether we won or not.

And I think Sage might finally be getting his dues. I think he deserves the chance. Because frankly we are not going anywhere with Gus. And Feeley might not be what we had hoped we had gotten. Considering the preseason. He looks no better or worse than Gus.
