get a WR and RB in first two rounds, either QB in third (developmental) or 1st round next year(seeing how feeley is)

The thing is, I believe Saban is high on a few players that he can select at #2, he might even be extremely high on them. I am not of the opinion that Saban will take anything less than full value for that pick, otherwise he will utilize that pick....For Alex Smith I think.
I think some teams are of the opinion that we are so desperate to trade down that we would take a lesser offer, I think they are mistaken.

Like Boomer is stating, it could be that the 49ers have ALWAYS had Smith rated ahead of Rodgers (if you want proof, I can link articles dating back to before the combine that indicated the 49ers preferred Smith).
The 49ers' Rick Speilman (Scot McCloughan) has stated he knew who he wanted before he took the 49ers' job and he wasn't wavered since.
Could it be that this whole "Rodgers to the 49ers" hype is purely media-driven? Mainly the bay-area media, those who have an obvious bias toward the hometown kid? They have no clue what the 49ers are going to do, despite what they say.
Also the 49ers are not cheap. Nolan has come out and said signability isn't an issue. Are the 49ers cheap for eating $15M just 2 years into the deals for ex-coach Dennis Erickson and ex-GM Terry Donahue? How about paying another $10M to hire their replacements? Is giving Jonas Jennings a $12M SB (overpaid or not) to play LT cheap? When it comes to the salary cap, the 49ers are at or near it every year (they just don't know how to manage it, which hopefully improves).
The 49ers' main problem is a cash flow problem which stems from their crappy stadium situation. How can ownership sell to the fans the idea of a new stadium if they pass on a potential franchise player like Smith because of finances?
The 49ers fall from grace had more to do with poor leadership at the top and not adequately replacing Steve Young (the Dolphins are struggling with this as well but had talent in other areas to compensate), than economics.

Don't believe the hype. Rodgers will have a great career, or at least has a better chance than most, to have a great career. There's not a draft source anywhere that has Campbell ahead of Rogers. Not that I'm saying we take him, but we could do a heck of a lot worse.finfansince72 said:At this point it wouldnt shock me if Campbell wound up going before Rodgers. Well I guess it would but Campbell seems to be getting more pub than Rodgers right now.
