I think the whole incident was orchestrated

He has two rich parents and could still find a backup job with ease...

Yet you think hes going to make a play for some small time cash.

NOt to mention he was still a starter with us that was in no danger of being cut next year that would have made a million no matter what.
This idea that this is a cash grab sounds beyond stupid and illogical

I think too many people assume that every lawsuit brings millions upon millions.
The guy was already gong to be making a million a year for a while.
People act like he was on a practice squad and would never make any money

So how this has gone down passes the sniff test for most of you? Maybe its because I'm a skeptic but when 10 black teammates all come out and have Richie's back and not defend Martin in anyway does that not raise a red Flag for any of you? That he never told the leadership council, union rep or coaches before his rep told the Dolphins? He pulled the same pranks the week before? We haven't heard the voicemail and Richie voice yet, was he joking or talking with malice? Please I know lots of you are offended by Richie using the N-word but some people in this world talk to each other using that word. Especially guys who hang out with black guys all day. Is that right? I don't think so but it is what it is. I come from a place that is a 50/50 community. Trust me I have heard the N-word and doing much worse things to guys mothers than what Richie said and it was in jest or talking smack. Context is king here. Even ex-teammates like Dansby and Ricky are defending Richie. Sorry but this seems weird to me.

Martin having the messages stashed away for seven months is telling. His Mom is a lawyer, so maybe he thought he could get something out of this. He makes a public display, then the story blows up in the media, and he is there to scoop up cash at the end. He knew it was not working out and he would likely be cut this year or the next. He gets cut before year 4 and there goes his pension. This might have all been an angle to sue either the team or the league. How can you go out around town and smooch it up with a guy that you think is going to harm you.

Absolutely no proof whatsoever for what you're theorizing. You have to have been bullied at one time to understand what it feels like to be constantly harassed. I was bullied bad in junior high by a sophomore in high school. He was almost a foot taller than me and was into karate. He did everything to me from take my hat to try to light my hair on fire on the bus once. You go through a stage where you think if you're nice to the guy, he'll stop it. He never does. Finally, after weeks of this, he was pushing me (out of sight from everyone so he could maintain his "great guy image") and I snapped and punched him in the mouth. I felt so good then, because I bloodied his lip. Although he went on to kick my ass pretty good.

I hear people talking about "Martin should have done this" and "should have done that". That's great to be able to look at it from a crystal clear angle that is void of emotion, fear and anger. What if I had went to my parents or the school? He might have been suspended, but would have come back and beat the hell out of me, and I would have been labelled as a "narc". I chose the path that I didn't want to go down, but after I punched him, his harassment decreased to the point where he totally left me alone.

Now it's quite a difference comparing what happened to me in junior high and what happened to a 23 year old and 30+ year old in an NFL locker room, but many of the elements are the same. Martin was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Had he gone to Philbin with this, he would have been labelled a narc or tattle-tale and would have been ostracized in the locker room. Had he confronted Richie in the locker room, which most likely would have gone to blows (see the TMZ video for how tactfully Richie acts), he would have been labelled a trouble-maker and trying to disrupt team unity. I think Martin was just at the end of his rope and didn't know what to do. I'm just glad he didn't try to kill himself.

So before you think of Jon Martin as coward, gold digger, con man, liar, etc., try looking at it from his perspective.

What "cash" exactly is there at the end of this?

It might not be the cash he can make out of this situation, but the cash he will not be paid for just quitting a football team in the middle of the season hes trying to secure.

See, it's a very simple application: If you think it's a conspiracy, no it's not.

Carry that around your entire life and you won't be wrong 2% of the time.

Until I started sampling message boards in the mid '90s I had no idea how Oliver Stone and others managed their gullible audiences.

Let me throw this in here, for a lack of a better venue: Finheaven has been incredibly impressive during this matter. Heated opinions and quite a bit of disagreement, to be sure, but covered from all angles. In contrast, for some reason I decided to sample a competing site not long ago. What a disgrace. A blowhard who used to post here was passing out bad information in blowhard fashion over there. Overall there wasn't a fraction of the depth we've experienced on this site. Not to mention this site predictably outed Incognito's dad, thanks to Walrus. The dad was posting elsewhere in greater numbers but they were asleep and very late to the party, enabling all the national credit and press to fall appropriately to this site. Well done.

Simple just get rid of Incognito. His act is now old. Let him be someone elses problem.
Just another free agent headcase that didnt work out

I agree with you. I for one was very disappointed that he had not gotten bigger and stronger in the off-season. so the fact that he hasn't gotten any better does not surprise me.

well the dolphins coaching staff thought he got better because they elevated him to LT, they never tried to replace him in offseason.

I don't know that they had a choice the front office didn't bring in a replacement either in the draft or FA

They didnt draft another LT and didnt make a big effort to find another LT so they seemed quite secure with Martin manning the left side.
In fact until this incident Martin had alot of support at LT on this board, Clabo was the whipping boy. In fact how many times this year did people imply there was no drop off from LOng which was flat out false but typical on the board

I could agree with this. You have to remember Martins parents are lawyers and many of those folks practicing law do that type of thing for a living.
