I Would Take Ronnie Brown 1st This Year Too

Look, Ronnie could end up being the best pro by far out of all four, but comign out of college, you know he would be fourth on that list of four.

Nick knew.

His defensive coordinators at LSU knew.

His defense at LSU knew.

That's why he took a BACK UP runningback with the 2nd overall pick in the draft!

He'd know this year too.

Bottom line is, we DO have him, so that's all that really matters! Good for us! Heck, if we somehow end up w/ Cutler this season, we may come out like bandits when all is said and done.

If we pick Cutler, somehow I feel we WILL come out like bandits, because Nick chose him.

I love Ronnie no doubt, but I have never in my life seen anyone that I think has more star potential than Bush. As much as I hate to say it I would take Bush over Brown.

I like your enthusiasm, and I love Ronnie - but take his rookie year out of the equation, and all you know about Ronnie is his career at Auburn. Then, put Vince Young, Reggie Bush and Leinart on the table.

You really think you would draft Ronnie? before any of those three? Seriously? Frankly, that's the case, we'd probably of ended up with Leinart, as Bush would have been a niner. Or, worst case, Young, who I think will be special someday.

Look, Ronnie could end up being the best pro by far out of all four, but comign out of college, you know he would be fourth on that list of four.

I won't compare Ronnie to a QB, but as far as Bush vs Brown give me Brown. He is just a tad bit slower with less moves, but ask Peter Warwick everyone is fast in the NFL and there is a big difference juking Ray Lewis than some Pac-10 linebacker. For all they make of Bush's recieving skills, I fail to believe they are any better than Ronnie's already. And as far as blocking goes, god luck Bush..

Good to see you are easy to impress. Ronnie Brown was a reach at #2 and time will bear that out. We should have traded down to position ourselves for this year. His type of talent would have been around later in the 1st or even late on the first day.. Look at all of the playoff teams, NONE of them have a top 2 guy running the ball.

That's because the last back to go top 2 was Marshall Faulk, and I think he was pretty valuable in the playoffs, if I'm not mistaken, but I don't know.

I agree completely. Reggie Bush is maybe the best open field runner I have seen, but there is a lot more open field in the Pac-10 than in the NFL. Is he a runningback? Sure, but he can't be THE runningback - he couldn't even be THE runningback for USC. I'm not so sure you draft a situational back #1 overall, even if it's the ultimate situational back.

Exactly my point. That 40 time really impressed Nick to the point where he wasted, value wise, the opportunity to pickup more picks last year or position ourselves for this years draft. Ronnie might turn out to be a probowl rb but as the 2nd overall pickup he along with picks 1 to 4 underachieved.

Saban tried to trade down and couldn't...And at that point we had no RB. No reach whatsoever given the circumstances. Alex Smith going #1 and Braylon Edwards going #3 were more of a reach than Brown going at #2. And all 3 of those teams were trying to trade down and couldn't get a deal done.

So you were in the war room and saw all of the trade offers coming in on draft day? You have to have reasonable offers before trading the #2 overall pick and all indications were that the offers were just not there. Everyone should know by now that Saban was shopping that pick for all it was worth and just couldn't find any takers.

Saban WANTED to trade down... but he couldnt... let it go...

Are f'ing serious ??????????????? Alex Smith was rated the #1 QB coming out, Braylon Edwards was the #1 receiver and up to the combine where everyone went gaga for Ronnie's 40 time he was slated as the 2nd best player out of college. Ronnie was the 2nd best RB in Auburn. Tampa got the better player and potentially one of the best pure runners to come in some time. A RB has one job RUN THE BALL. Look at all of the best RB in the league, would you be exited about their BLOCKING skills as everyone seems to be creaming over Ronnie for.. I dont think so. Tiki Barber is at a minimum 1000 times better than Ronnie, but Ronnie is the better blocker. We overreached, Ronnie was a top 15 talent not a top 5 talent.

You give Ronnie Brown holes and he's going to pick up chunks of yards. Once our offensive-line becomes a more dominant, cohesive unit you're not going to see him stopped for anything less than five yards. He rarely goes down on first contact, and literally carries guys with him.

I'd take Ronnie over Reggie anyday.
