....but I feel like we have gotten rid of any chance he had at success when we traded Marshall. Moore is the type of QB who has success by giving his playmakers a chance (and usually a good one at that) to make the big play, something that Henne never could. Moore and Marshall were on fire in the second half, and when teams focused on taking that away Moore spread the ball to whatever other guy on offense was in position to make a play. But the key to the whole thing was Marshall, either teams took him away and Moore found the other guys, or teams didn't take him away and Moore found him repeatedly for big plays. Without Marshall, we have no guys who can be big threats by themselves, and coverage will be spread evenly. Moore simply isn't exceptionally accurate over the middle, which is what he'll have to be even if we bring in a couple competent pass catchers (right now there is only 1 plus Hartline)

Of the two name QB's out there, I'm resigned to the fact that Manning may be looking for something different than Miami could have offered even with Marshall, and I just don't have any faith in Matt Flynn's ability to do much when he's not in the league's most talented offense- something that we are about as far from as I can imagine right now. Moore proved that he could provide competent and sometimes spectacular QB play, and our winning 6 of our last 9 was fairly impressive considering how poorly this team and especially this offense had played in over a year's worth of games dating back to the start of 2010.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that it was at least possible for us to contend for a wild card, just based on our second half of last year, with Moore at the helm. Please note that I'm not saying that we would or should have, just that it was very possible considering. But there's no way this happens without Marshall.

I wasn't aware that the 2012 season was starting next week

Marshall did his best this post season throwing Moore under the bus. It was a gross display from a team leader.

Oh I forgot, there are plenty of #1 wide receivers out there in FA. Nevermind the fact that even before the Marshall trade we didn't have a #2 receiver.

While its foreseeable that we could draft a playmaking WR at our draft position, we will have simply spent a first rounder that we certainly needed to improve other areas of the roster to replace a player we sent our for thirds (one this year). So in essence we traded a first for a third for equivalent production at one position, and that's on the rare chance that a rookie receiver (even drafted highly) will ever in his career produce what Marshall did.

So it's not OK for Marshall to say he wanted an upgrade at QB, but it is OK for the front office to publicly tell their fans repeatedly that they will improve the QB position this offseason?

Exactly...

"Deficits aren't important"

Similar thinking to our arrogant and destructive GM

People here make way too much about what Brandon said. If the FO even took that as a reason to get rid of him, this FO is even more pathetic than I though, and right now I don't think that is possible.

If they were that sensitive, where is the outrage for the Pouncy tweet?

No it is not okay. You do not go publicly and throw a teammate under the bus.

Management is different than a guy on the team.

Marshall didn't talk bad about Moore, he just talked about being excited for Miami to bring in a top QB considering the FO was selling us (and him) on the gosh darn notion even before the season ended.

at this point we really don't have a choice

Do you think Marshall is a good teammate?
