We drafted Dion to play DE. Currently we have 3-4 good De's (wake/Vernon/Shelby/odrick? and isn't a need. He could go to linebacker but he wouldn't start and wheeler has been ok so far.

Dion is a leaner muscular player. He really doesn't have the bulk/size for De or even linebacker. But he is built like a prototypical seam threat TE. Dude is 6'6 and is an athletic freak. Is fast/quick/explosive. Can jump high has big hands. Strong.

Why don't we try to mold him into a TE like some teams do with basketball players? We need a TE and Jordan doesn't really have a position on the defensive side. Maybe it's worth a shot?

i know it's a somewhat crazy idea , but I'd say its worth a shot.

He bulked up this offseason...hence the suspensions PEDs. According to some reports he was in the 270-280 lbs range. Which is good size for a DE in the 4-3.

Although you may think your idea is crazy it's not all that crazy. He was recruited to Oregon as a TE but they switched him to defense his freshman year I believe.

I don't know what the coaches are going to do with Dion but they need to think of something. He's going to be on this roster till the end of the 2015 season in all likelihood anyway. We have to hope he starts to play well at DE or they find some other use for him or he'll just be dead weight and taking up cap space for the next two seasons.

I think we should start a fla fgootball team and make him the star player or maybe a paperweight.
being serious Im not sure what we do. I guess see if if can play DE. As for TE that's was in a galaxy a long time ago and is pretty rare. That's like teams deciding all of a sudden ginn should play cb. Not impossible but not likely

Almost as silly of an idea of JJ Watt playing TE, right? Both are superior athletes and both played TE in their past. I see no reason why Dion couldn't do that in goal line situations at least.

Well, Oregon used him in a goal line situation at least once, when he scored on a 2-point conversion. Not sure if that was just a one-time thing or if they tried it other times as well.

never said it was impossble but would he really be better on goaline than dion sims. Although to mention Jordan with a guy as talented as Watt is almost an insult

I say make him a vender , with that combine video he could get to fans much faster with their beer.

Once Dion, Starks, Misi, & McCain have all returned, here is what I'd do/

Run the 5-2-4 full time. Starks, Mitchell, & Odrick would be the DT's. Rotate Wake, OV, DJ, Shelby, & McCain At DE.

Misi, Tripp, Wheeler, Jenkins, & Sheppard would rotate @ LB.

p.s. McCain could also be used at LB, Odrick at DE, & Shelby as a DT.

Jordan is (or was before bulking up) more athletic as JJ Watt is. He's even said himself that he's only an average athlete, whereas it's been proven by Sports Science that Dion is an exceptional athlete. Would he be better than Sims? I don't know, but I know he'd be bigger and longer.

He's an OLB whether Philbin and/or Coyle like it or not.

In a 3-4 I agree but when do we stop blaming the coaches for his inability to get on field.

How do we know that the coaches aren't at least partly, if not directly, related to him being off the field? It wouldn't shock me at all if they encouraged him to bulk up by any means necessary. Even if they didn't, I'd be willing to bet they told him to bulk up and being a young dumb kid he probably took PEDs to try and accelerate that process.

But it's funny how they're are complaints of him "not getting on the field", which is kind of tough to do when you're suspended. You can bring up the past but a lot of rookies don't get on the field much as a rookie and still end up having big time careers.

Maybe Dion can wear the TD Dolphin costume that they bought for Michael Egnew. Dressing up as TD would give Jordan much needed exposure in front of the home crowd who would be enthralled by his athleticism. It might also provide Dion with hands on work experience for a future career after football.

Newsflash - Egnew didn't give up the dolphin costume. He still likes to eat fish and dress up like his former teammates.
