Is it just me or does Hennehill seem to be looking for Wallace too much?
I don't understand it either. He also completely STARES DOWN the receiver before he throws it. Don't understand how he doesn't have more pics.
thats not what I was saying - I was simply saying that he could read the field and find the open guy faster than most who ever played the game. I said nothing about competing passes or not completing passesDan missed wide open players all the, they all do. Just like he had bad games and made mistakes all the time. What made Dan great was he had confidence in himself. That's what makes the great ones great. But to imply he didn't miss wide open players in most games IMO is kind of a silly thing to even imply.
Every game I ever went to see Dan play at some point, multiple times really during the game the boo birds would come out for Dan. People have a way of not remembering how things really were in Miami when he played. Why do you think they booed him, because he didn't miss wide open players or make a bad decision?
Every QB makes mistakes and misses wide open players.

Personally I do not agree that Marino read the defense faster than most. IMO his ability to play a mind game against defenses was AVG at best. What he did that was above everyone who ever played the game, and probably to this day, Dan the Man had/has the fastest release in football. I love Marino, but the mental game was not his strong suit.
As far as RT17, I agree. The moment he reads it to when it is released something is not right, at this moment. IMO has to do with a lack of trust with his OL and the pass receivers. This last game IMO the 1st 3 quarters RT17 was on task and making very good decisions, he was on target with the pass catchers. His receivers let him down with drops.
The truth is the truth.Do you have a death wish? Do you know where you are?
In all seriousness, that statement is incredibly invalid. His ability to see what was going on and find the open man quickly was uncanny. His quick release only made it that much more impressive.
we can agree to disagree on Marino. I'm just going on what I saw in watching him - again I go back to that contrast of watching him vs O'Donnell and it was just two completely different levels of play. Quick release but you still have to know where to go with it.Personally I do not agree that Marino read the defense faster than most. This is the most over used complaint by anyone trying to bash him. Watch Brady, Brees, Manning especially.......they ALL stare down the WR on hot routes and when they are first read options. Watch the tapes, it's very common with every QB on a lot of plays.
Well that's a bit different - he absolutely threw balls into places few could and even fewer would dare - that's part of what made him so dangerous. It's well documented Marino would throw into coverages that he never should have. He made throws, simply that no one else can get away with, even today. This is the same QB that would constantly option out of running plays. It's his mentality. Marino did what he wanted to do, whether it was the right thing/throw for the coverage or not.
My point is he basically spent no time reading coverages, besides who was going to cover who he thought was his best Dolphins receiver at that moment.

If you attended the games more often, then you would know almost every play any QB misses wide open players. I use to see Marino consistently not see wide open players. I'm not sure what play this was, but it looks like to me his progression was deep/mid to a short pass. If that's the case, what's the problem?
