IF and THEN Chart for Dolphins Playoff Scenarios

Me neither. No matter what Cinci. NE and the Ravens would all be extremely tough at home. I believe some what it "match ups" and we seem to match up better against teams like Cincy and Indy...not so much against the Ravens.

cincis got better win matchup options their o vs our d but dalton doesn't find em...so it kinda evens it out...on paper though good lord are they loaded...the qb holds em back...always will...doesn't mean we go there and win just means daltons ehhh

Thanks HB. Barney style seems to work around here. :)
Sometimes the easiest way to figure out scenarios without a flow chart, is an IF and THEN chart. I added and "AND" column in this case. I threw the various info from the Palm Beach Post into the chart, so see how it shakes out. After we beat Buffalo on Sunday, if both the Bengals and Raven lose, we're in like Flynn, and the Jets game won't matter. If things don't go according to plan, and it looks like we can't pull out the Buffalo game...then we can still sneak in the playoffs with a wildcard spot if the Ravens run the table. So if we don't win, we need the Bengals to lose at 1pm, and the Ravens to win at 4pm.

The chart is basically best to worst case scenario:

There's also still a scenario that we can get a first-round bye. Just will need:

Week 16
—Miami win at Buffalo
—Minnesota win at Cincinnati
—Baltimore win vs New England
—Kansas City win at Indianapolis

Week 17
—Miami win vs NY Jets
—New England loss vs Buffalo

Wishful thinking, I know, but it could happen.
I think Cincinnati has to beat Baltimore week 17 as well since Baltimore owns a tie breaker with Miami. far fetched

"Just win, Baby."
As far as I am concerned the Dolphins need to approach every game from here on out as a play-off game or else they may be eliminated.

I don't think we do. This scenario would produce a three-way tie between Miami, Indianapolis and Baltimore/Cincinnati and we would get the No. 2 seed based on conference record.

You know what's going to happen?
We lose to Buffalo but beat the Jets.
Ravens beat the Pats but lose to the Bengals.
Chargers beat the Raiders and Chiefs (both at home).
We win the 3-team tiebreaker.

That's what I was looking at at the beginning of the thread, when someone mentioned that. With a 2 way tiebreaker it's head to head, and we lost to the Ravens, but with a 3 way, it's conference record. I figured, under the exact scenario you described, we'd win with a 8-4 conference record.

Three or More Clubs:
Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.

Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.
Coin toss

I'll update the chart to include the Charger scenario.

... & Bump's head explodes on the final day of the regular season.

(Lets just win out.)

The most important thing I gather is if we win, we're basically in. Would be beautiful if the Ravens and Bengals lost and we won this week to take the drama out of it. But with the way things have gone all season with this team, I can't help but feel like it won't be decided until the final play of the final week...No matter what happens I am grateful to be able to anticipate truly meaningful games in December. Am also proud of the effort and grit the team has shown, and how they've not gotten too down over losses (and we've had some heartbreakers).

WHEN we get in, I believe we can really make some noise! I believe the tides are turning, but lets see how they perform with their destiny in their hands. GO DOLPHINS!

This is ridiculous, we can not get into playoffs by losing. F that!
