If Gaine Is Ultimately Hired As GM...

Yet how did Pioli fare in KC? He certainly changed the culture by bugging the offices of other executives. Everyone knows that Belichick has the ultimate power within the Patriots' organization.

I'm sorry but I don't see Caserio as a slam dunk candidate. And if Ross sees certain risks with Caserio as he did with Xanders then I hope he goes in another direction. It seems bizarre that one year Caserio is a wide receivers coach and then goes back into personnel. And it is difficult to put faith in the article that quotes Pioli praising Caserio when you have witnessed Pioli's downfall once he left the Patriots organization. And when you combine the reports citing Caserio's weird personality and then compare it to Pioli's, it certainly raises red flags for me.

Whos a slam dunk candidate?

Im gonna strike it rich. Im starting a GM only fantasy draft because it seems that the fans can scout GM as if GMs have game tape.

Dont see how the coaching is a negative.

Our norm could use weird. Sadly, despite such an esteemed history, weird- for this age, our team- is success.

The team has an image problem and cant fill seats on Sundays. Motivation of fanbase should be a major part of the equation. Gaines is the least of the available candidates when it comes to that aspect. He may be great but this franchise is on life support

People are not going to buy more tix based on who the GM is. They will based on the moves he makes

If Gaines is hired, then everyone will rightly feel that this was all for nothing.

I don't know if hiring Caserio is the right thing or not. I have some concerns, which you outlined. But he clearly has more upside than anyone else in the room. If Ross has to adjust his structure, then he does, I don't care. But even if there are no changes,..functionally it may be different with Caserio then it would have been with, say Farmer.

What's funny is that for weeks all anyone in the NFL talks about is people skills, loyalty, hard worker, gets along with co-workers, etc...and all the fans are really concerned about is, can he draft?

I hear good things about Gaine from the talking heads around the NFL (for whatever that is worth) and while I hear Caserio is and "up and comer"....I also hear he is light on experience but a sharp guy.

To me, you have more risk with Caserio as he hasn't done the job previously, but has potential
You are closer to the experience you want in Gaine, but run the risk that the apple doesn't fall far enough away from the tree

I think the current organization is not an issue for either candidate. If it was, things would not have advanced this far.

Either one will work.
