If Gus Ferrotte is our starter..I will kill myself.

Id rather have Rosenfels as a backup. Gus is terrible. I watched him play in DC for years, the guy has little to no talent, hes mediocre at the very best. At least Rosenfels has an upside, Ferotte has none. Dont be fooled by the numbers he posted in Minnesota they are a fluke. Im really surprised we are bothering with him, he's worthless. If he's starting we are angling for the #1 overall pick next year. Feeley/Frerotte/Rosenfels is one of the worst Qb rotations (bottom five easily) in the league. Really surprised at Nick for not moving for better players at the key position, maybe he has longterm plans.

I do not buy that they are a fluke. I believe if Ferotte wins out the QB competition, then he should start.

Ill quote many people when I say.. hey at least its not Fiedler

Lets see. Gus's career rating is like 77 his rating in Minnesota in like 3 games was over 100. Call me crazy but thats pretty much a textbook example of a fluke. A lot of you have never seen him play and are going by 3 fluke games a year or so back(with Randy Moss) and think he's good. He's not, when you see it for yourself you will understand. He's terrible plain and simple.

Yeah my memories of him are still from Washington. i didnt really see him play in Minny. He was horrible back then and those were his best years.

If Frerotte is our starting QB, i will know that we have no chance against making the playoffs, and will probably watch the games with the hope that he does so miserable that AJ has to be put in. It's in the best interest of our franchise to have AJ in the game, seeing as this year is most assuredly a rebuidling year. If we finish 6-10 with Gus as QB (which is not even viable.s if his play doesn't improve), where will we be at the end of the season? What good will it have done to start him when its all said and done?

I do not like Gus, but I do support him, he is a fin. If he outplays AJ he should start. But as I have said that, unless it is simply a case of AJ not having teh system down to the point he isnt constantly thinking instead of reacting, he cant beat Frerrote for teh job he doesnt deserve it and isnt starter material. From what I have seen I believ it is a case of AJ getting accustomed to teh system. Gus has 8 years and experience in multiple systems and outside 4 games in relief looked as bad or worse than AJ ever did factoring in the offense last year for Miami.

If Gus is teh starter, I hope he succeeds. If AJ starts I will be happy and pull for him. Reason is this - AJ may have some upside, whereas Frerrotte is Frerrotte he has hit his ceiling for sure IMO.

Wrong attitude IMO. Cant wish any Fin to stink. If Gus starts I hope he proves me wrong.

Love this thread. Reminds me if the good ol' days.

"If ___________________ (insert journey man backup name here) is our QB, I will kill myself."

Options:

1) AJ Feely
2) Jay Fiedler

3) Brian Griese

4) Ray Lucas

5) Gus Frerotte

I have to tell you...we might not have any fans next year..
Half the fans will kill themselves if Gus starts..
Half the fans will kill themselves if Feeley starts
Half the fans will kill themselves if we don't draft a QB at #2
Half the fans will kill themselves if we don't draft a RB at #2
Half the fans will kill themselves if we trade Jason Taylor
Half the fans will kill themselves if we trade Zach
Half the fans will kill themselves if we trade Surtain
Half the fans will kill themselves if we don't get a #2 for him
Half the fans will kill themselves if we sign Tebucky Jones
Half the fans will kill themselves if we go to a 3-4
Half the fans will kill themselves if we stay in a 4-3
So at this rate we should have about 3 fans at each game
Why don't we just enjoy the ride...remember when football was fun???? :)

If Gus comes into week one and throws four td's, then I will support him. Unfortunately, there is very little chance of this happening. If he is going to be mediocre, i'd rather us get blown out and him turn the ball over 5 times so we can see a younger guy than to see us lose 17-10 and him keep starting every week cause it doesn't help us in the long run. I felt the same way about Fiedler being in there when it was obvious our season was going nowhere. It's not that I like Feely that much, it's that he has the best chance to help the club in the long run.

I think way back I used to enjoy the games...not screaming and yelling and making myself sick...I do have to remember why I enjoy all of this so..lol

Well said....and VERY true.

I think the making yourself sick part is half the fun though.:D

Who here can say that watching Ray Lucas sabotage our season didn't make them want to kill themselves?

There is a reason Saban threw the ball 44 times last night and only ran 14 times (2 by Qb's) against a pass rushing defense. He also made it a point to make sure feeley got 20 tosses. After a poor performance by gus in jax perhaps he wantwd to give gus one last chance at linihans req.
