Do we still look for a qb?Im sure we do if we don't at "least" get in the second round of the playoffs, but I would like you all opinion because stats say qbs either take a leap in the 3rd yr or they let you know they are back up material for there careers. With the great defense we have and Chad can't play any worse than last yr,I believe a sub-par chad can still get at least 10 wins with the team compared to a horrible chad that (should) could have won as many as 9 last yr without some critical missed field goals and 4th quarter fizzles.. Not being a homer, but that is very realistic with 7 wins last yr and returning players from injuries this yr and firing dan henning has to be worth at least a win or 2.Point is...what if chad plays just good enough to get us in the playoffs...what do we do?stay pat or go after someone else? It also possibly put us out of the luck, barkley and landry sweepstakes:(

I think you bring in a Young QB no matter what.

As we all know finding decent QBs in this league is hard so if you are able to get one you grab him.

Look at Greenbay. They had Farve but the got Rodgers anyway. When Farve was done Rodgers just picked up where he left off.

I bet that is what the Pats are trying to see if Mallet can do for them.

Agreed. If henne continues to excel, just use the qb that may be brought in as trade bate in the future aka Philadelphia Eagles...Wouldn't that be a wonderful situation :-/ Hope we can get into a position like that sooner than later..

You've gotta go QB in round 1 unless we get to the AFC championship game.

Here's why: Our defense is STACKED. Yeah, we could use a safety, but unless the next Ronnie Lott or Ed Reed is sitting there, this can wait until Round 2 or 3, and we have a lot of young safeties on the roster as is and any one of them could step up.

On offense, we have Long, Carey, and Pouncey as fixed starters. We need a RT and we need a LG. You don't pick RT's in round 1 (typically you see guys picked as a LT in that round that end up making the switch to RT because they couldn't cut it at LT). And considering we just spend last years first on an interior OL, it would be silly to do that again.

At WR we have Marshall and Bess, and while a better #2 option than Hartline would be nice, it's not essential at this point. Marshall is a #1 WR and you don't draft a guy to be a #2 in Round 1.

at RB we just spend a high pick on Daniel Thomas and traded for Reggie Bush. Running backs are notorious for being found in later rounds/off the street/UDFA's. It's not a big enough need considering what we've recently spent on it.

TE is the next biggest need, but there were TE's on the market this year that we didn't go after, which makes you think that they believe Clay and Fasano have enough to hold down the position. Also, TE's typically do not get picked until the end of round 1, and those that have been picked early of late (Marcedes Lewis, Vernon Davis and Kellen Winslow come to mind) didn't really make an immediate impact.

That leaves QB, and in a VERY good QB class, it's the right time to make a splash. I would put our situation very similar to the Chargers with Drew Brees when they drafted Eli Manning..er..., I mean Philip Rivers. Brees hadn't done much at that point, and the team was mediocre, so they went out and drafted Rivers. Brees went 8-8 in 2002 and was benched in 2003 for Doug Flutie before the Chargers drafted Rivers, it wasn't until Rivers was in the fold that Brees became the QB he is today.

This class has a bunch of guys that could be potential franchise QB's, Andrew Luck, Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, and Nick Foles immediately come to mind. And as always there will be guys who are rated as 3rd and 4th round prospects now that will shine and improve their stock to possible 1st round status. There is no excuse not to draft a QB in round 1 in 2012.

Yeah something has to be done about the qb so we don't have to worry about insurance at the most important position. So even if we by a strock of luck suprise and are decent. We can make our team potentially great for yrs by drafting a 1st rounder just in kase henne goes bk to his old ways...but those are a lot of ifs ands or buts.Go dolphins

Winning the wild card to even get into the playoffs is going to tough for anyteam in the AFC because the AFC is deep with elite to good team. If he gets us to the playoffs i say we use the draft to address other needs. We have young QB's now, that given time may turn into decent back ups or good trade bait.

I'd be happy with getting a QB no matter how Henne does. Maybe he had a good year like in 09? Or maybe he is turning the corner, but you can never be too sure. I think this team will not be in contention at all for Luck or Barkley but maybe Landry Jones or that kid from Arizona State who I cant remember...Foles?

We better get the best one we can

Depends on how he plays. If you mean he gets us into the playoffs not riding on the back of the defense, I think we still look for a QB but bring in real competition. If he gets us into the playoffs riding the defense and throwing more picks than TD's then yes, we better look for a QB.

Arizona games come on for some reason in the shreveport,la all the time at night. So I see a lot of Foles.I look at him to take the biggest leap in the post draft process with his intangibles 6-5 250 and he is somewhat under the radar being at Arizona. He can make any throw, its just his consistency at times. That would be perfect if henne can turn the corner.I am one of the very few who sees past all of the media/fan negativity and thinks henne can.I watched EVERY dolphins games on my laptop in shreveport(eff the saints) if not on t.v and henning obviously handcuffed him tremendously...he will go 5-5 completions then get taken out for the wildcat -3 yards -__- you don't do stupid things like that..some was his fault also, but he is still young..I really think he can possibly be comeback player of the year. That is a football comment, not a dolphins fan comment.Either way we will have our qb next yr im sure..

Unless someone falls to us that we just can't pass on like how Prince Blablablah fell to the giants, we take a qb. We should take a qb in the 1st I'd say every other year until we find a very good one. Give that guy a year to learn the system from the SL, a year to compete and then repeat if there's any legitimate questions. We're at the point talent wise where we have that luxury.

If we get to the playoffs based on Henne's play then that would be amazing and maybe he has turned the corner at that point. BUT I dont want to get into the playoffs based on how GREAT our D was and say Henne got us there like the JETS. If Henne is sucessful then in the draft we must go BPA and if a QB falls that is rated the BPA at our spot then so be it. BUT if Henne falters we will see a new Head Coach and will need to draft a QB in round 1!

P.S. I think Ireland stays no matter what. Ross likes Ireland a lot and will keep him. Sparano on the other hand would be gone.

The Jets are really screwed b/c they clearly don't have a qb that's going to win them a super bowl and he's such a high draft pick so its even harder to move on from him.

:lol2:  When has Henne EVER excelled? He had one game in his whole career so far where it could be deemed excelling.
