If I were Dave Wannstadt I WOULD start Griese this Monday Night.

That one thing is the one thing you can count on: above all else, Wanny does NOT want to fail at Miami the way he obviously and painfully failed at Chicago. He will do whatever it takes to keep his job.

Shave where? (Sorry... still can't get over how much he looks like a 70's porn star)

You know what would be interesting?? Say that Jay "can't" go, Brian starts and lights up the joint for a ton of points. All of us would be behind Brian to do well just as we're all behind Jay (yes, even the anti-Jay guys) because we're all Fins fans first and then players fans next. Anyway, could you imagine all the hype and such that would bound to be going on next week?? But it would be something good to "have" to put up with tho !!

At least somebody understands this. Good post....

Thanks for the props, IF (lord knows my rickety old butt needs it, LOL) but the way I figure it, good or bad, like it or not, we are ALL in this "mess" together, right? Otherwise, if we didn't G.A.S., neither of us would be hereto begin with.

BTW, is that YOUR honey in your sig?? If so, better get a grip onher cuz the old fart will be back down again soon!! The "old fart" may be decrepid (sp?), but he ain't "dead" yet!!!
   :D :D :D

:lolcry:

That is the same thing my wife says EVERY GAME.

But back to the topic... I think a new spark at QB is exactly what this team needs, whether it is Sage or Brian. Did you guys see Tuiasosopo (sp?) come in for Rich Gannon last night? He kicked the Raiders into a different gear (and almost pulled off the win). I'm not necessarily comparing our backups to Tuiasosopo in particular, but conceptually it is a good idea.

the 3rd scenario is the problem, what if he comes in and plays ok, fiedler like numbers, maybe even slightly better and our defense pounds them and we win 17-7.... then where are we at.. i think then we have the qb contraversy.. if he plays great or horrible it is a no brainer.

Then he gets treated like every other back-up...when the starter is healthy, it's back to the bench for number 2.

hmmmmmm.....wonder what parcells would do if his highest paid kicker missed two chips shots and lost the game......wonder what (trade drew cut milloy) billicek would do when his offensive line isn't opening holes.........wonder what herm edwards would do with an offense that seems asleep........hmmmmm wonder what lombardi would do with his "starr" qb who wasn't producing..........want a hint?..........either fire the kicker or let him know that this was the last time that ever happens and that he better start practicing on dirt.......and for that matter start getting some time in an ice skating rink.....cause december is coming!......billichek would start substituting lineman until he found a couple of holes........and lombardi would give his qb a garlic breath hug and throw his a## on the bench and tell him to pay attention to the 2nd stringer who really wants to play!............this season is not over yet ladies........but waltzing around and hoping that were gonna make the play offs.........DO SOMETHING Wandstedt!!!!!.....We are allowing teams to hang around and go for broke and see what they come up with............its time we just begin to assasinate the other team.........put them out of the game..........TAKE THE LIFE out of them.........LETS GO FINS!!!!!!!!!

I'll go out on a limb and make a prediction right now: if Griese gets the start and IF he lights up the offense and plays well, Fiedler will not get his job back. (Okay, so it's a short limb. :D )

i read your prediction and i see scott mitchell.

As long as the QB is somewhat prepared, not ala Lucas, circa 2002, they have a good chance of reasonable sucess off the bench. I think a big reason for that is that teams don't game plan for the guy and nothing on film to see beforehand. Plus his physical style and movements are different and altho may only be subtle differences, it's often enough. But given a little more time, i think the kid would'ver yanked it out and our boys from '72 would only have the Vikes to worry about now!! ;)

My kind of guy !!! ;) Hope Wayne hires this guy next season !!

Its basically a Win/Win..

Griese will either:

-Fall flat on his face, thus solidifying Fiedler's status as the STARTING QB and have everyone stand behind him.

-Ignite the offense

Plus, We are playing San Diego, a team Griese is familliar with and is quite frankly not that good right now (Especially the defense)

Plus, Fiedler could use the rest..

I disagree. Any time our QB (whoever it may be) falls flat on his face it is a losing proposition for me as a fan.

I don't want any of our QBs to fail. I didn't want Lucas to fail last year. I hate losing. The end result is a loss (most likely) if our QB falls flat on his face.

I was envying all those teams last year who had to put in backup QBs and even third stringers and still won.

I want to win...no matter how...no matter with who.

If Jay wins...fine. If Brian wins...fine. If Sage wins...fine. If Johnny Doorknob wins...fine.

I could care less......
