I'm wondering, all things being equal, if McCoy's age will be the determining factor. He's only 39 whereas Zimmer is 55 and Philbin is 50. If Ross' comment about looking for a young Don Shula is to be believed, then if McCoy impresses then he could be the Dolphins' coach for many years. If this is the case, it seems as though Ross is modeling his organization after the Steelers -- hire a young, qualified, aggressive coach and separate the responsibilites of the coach and the GM. Interesting...

The bad thing about all this is that JI is helping pick the HC. He also thought Tony was the man at one time.

Parcells hired Sparano and Ireland. Ireland didn't hire Sparano. Ireland had nothing to do with Sparano being hired.

Sparano was Parcell's boy. constant bashing of Ireland is getting old.

The thing about a "young Don Shula" has always bothered me because when Shula got his first head coaching job, it was with one of the best teams in the league (Baltimore Colts)...he really didn't have to build a team on his own until he came to the Dolphins after seven years experience at the helm.

If I recall, Shula got the Colts job in 1963 after constructing a defense as coordinator of the Lions that handed the 1962 Packers their only loss that season. What's really interesting is that the 1962 Lions' head coach was George Wilson, who became the first head coach of the Dolphins. And then Shula succeeded Wilson to become the second head coach of the Dolphins.

I'll be the first one to say that I am not sold on Ross or Ireland. However, not everything Ireland has done is bad and of course we don't know how much he had to do with picks before.....I just have a feeling that at last, we're going to get it right, even if is by default.......funny thing is if we win the superbowl there'll still be people here not happyabout something plus all the threads about I told you so....lol

Ozzy rules!!

Ross and Ireland wanted Harbaugh. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt here for now.
