If Jeff Ireland did what most of you wanted him to do

I find that quite ironic myself. Jeff Ireland is no different than Parcells. Same outdated philosophy.

99% of the ones supporting Ireland are the same ones who were saying Tony Sparano was a great coach and wouldn't be fired just one short year ago. Denial...it's a hell of a drug!

Two things: We have signed lots of big contracts for FA that are no longer on the team
We have spent good dollars on high draft picks that are no longer on the team

why we have no CAP and are 6-10.

I can't help feel that we could have 3 more losing seasons and people will still defend Ireland.

I just want Ireland to take a risk when it's warranted. IMO he's stuck in Parcell's mode of being too careful and playing it safe.

I don't think Dawn Aponte is blameless either. Just sayin'

If you only judge Ireland on the one time he had sole charge, last year, what else could he have done. With six picks he drafted, Pouncey, DT, Gates, Clay & Jimmy Wilson. When you take into account a good draft has 3 'potential' starters, with only six picks, that draft looks very good. When most fans and media were clamouring for Orton and losing a 2nd/3rd pick or Vince Young, we signed Matt Moore to a basic $2m a year contract.

Whatever misgivings we have for Ireland, you have to remember that previous to last year, Parcells made the final decisions. Just imagine how much worse it would be if, as most wanted, we went with Orton last year and had no 2nd round pick this year.

We have to give Ireland the chance based soley on last year, as 2011 was the only time he himself made the final decisions and IMO he had a very good 2011.

as of right now we can adjust that "3 potential starters", into just one... pouncey... and we took a center at 15 to boot. I'm not sure how many teams in the past have taken a center with a top 15 pick...

all of his other picks saw spot duty.. and really made little impact... you could make a slight argument for clay maybe.. and to act like ireland didn't have a hand in any previous draft is just silly. did we just pay this guy for four years, to shadow bill parcells?

But Thomas did have the most yards of any rookie and he played hurt so if he can stay healthy I think he will be very nice.

Rookie running back I should say.

Sorry, it gets confusing. I keep forgetting that he sat around twiddling his thumbs doing absolutely nothing for 3 years learning from a guy that had no idea what he was doing regarding personnel. Of course, that all depends on when you ask a homer and whether the move was good or not. If it was a good move, it was clearly Ireland. If it was a bad move, it was clearly Parcells. Do I have that right? It's amazing logic.

And 6-10 is not a good year, no matter how you try to spin it. Hell, bringing in Colombo alone is enough to negate all of his "good" moves.
