If last season were different

Considering how many close games we lost last year - Bengals, Steelers, Jets (1st), Seahawks, Broncos, Bills (both), Ravens, and Cardinals - I would say 8-8.

As bad as our team was last year, w/ any kind of scheme and halftime adjustments, we should have still been able to achieve a few more victories. The team would by no means have been good, but average - maybe. Look how the team played under Bates - all fight till the very end! That made the difference in his three wins. With Wanny, there was effort, but never any sense of urgency when it mattered. Thank God he's gone!!

By pure stats alone (we were 3-4 under Bates) I'd say 7-9. Now if Ricky would have stuck around... I'd say at least 8-8.

Hypothetical question: If Wannstedt hadn't coached last year, and we had Bates head coaching the whole season instead of just half the season, what would've been our record ?

I ask this in an attempt to see what kind of team everyone thinks we really had last year. (Not just the one Wannstedt fielded.) Now I'm not trying to start a bash Wanny thread, so let's try not to go there. IMO, we should base how our team has improved over last season by comparing the Bates version over comparing it to the Wannstedt version. It was two different teams, IMO. I don't think the Bates version of our team was so terrible to say that we'd have been a 4-12 team. What do y'all think, and how would you compare it to thus far (from what little we've seen in preseason) ?

Hypothetical Question: If Hypothetical questions we're never invented, how much better off a place would Planet Earth be. :rofl3:

Anyway, i think Jim Bates coaching the Phins last year would get them 3-4 more wins, but still not a playoff spot. He was much more disciplined and would have cut the penalties down, also he wouldn't have been screwing around with QB's who eventually cost us a few games. Miami was IN most of the games they played last year, if things dont go the way they do they could easily go from 4 wins to 7 or 8, and with Jim Bates coaching i think that happens.

Example:
We beat Arizona
We beat Buffalo the first time
We beat New York Jets the second time
We beat New England the first time.....
