IF Miami goes WR Rd. 1

He got into a fight with a teammate and was suspended for the 2012 season opener against Georgia.. What concerns me is that he was suspended for a fight with a teammate.. I've gotten in 100 fights in practice.. they happen all the time.. a few a month.. especially when you first put on the pads.. I've never heard of someone getting suspended for one so that is a big concern for me.. and I ding him a little bit for level of competition.. But yeah he definitely looks the part of a 3-4 OLB.. I just think he's more robin than batman.. Not a Von Miller caliber talent.. more of a secondary guy like a Kerrigan to Orakpo.. or Ahmad Brooks to Aldson Smith..but better than those 2.. If he was clean off the field I would have him in the back end of the top 10.

Not as fluid as Von miller but more strength in his hands and more power I'd say...better explosion athlete and tools wise than Kerrigan...orakpo would be close I'd say but his motor runs hot and cold

I'm not with you on shazier...I don't see the instincts I see the athlete...elite level lbs have elite instincts as well as athleticism

to each his own.. he's not lavante david caliber instincts but his athleticism makes up for it.. still very good in that department he is quick to key flow and fill.. not as much of a click and close guy as David.. there's a little reluctance in his play I agree. But he's always around the football.

Shazier also plays a little light or looks light...body on tape more of a safety almost...like he played in the mid 220s max...can tackle high can overrun and at times I think he's late for the level athlete...

At 237 provided he plays 235 yeah it's more interesting but again the instincts aren't elite level...

Yeah he's a far superior prospect to Kerrigan.. I was just using the Orakpo-Kerrigan as a reference.. Basically I think he is a secondary rusher.. not someone you have to change your protection schemes that week for.. but still a very good secondary guy.. More strength at the point and converts speed to power better than Von ...you won't find another rusher as fluid as Von for a while..

And that's why I continuously say he's not lavante David level who I loved and had a top 20 grade on despite the size coming out...only one around here who did to my knowledge...instincts at lb absolutely critical

I don't think they are either. I would still say they are good though.. not a negative but not elite in that category either.

No doubt about it brotha.. I wasn't around here then but I loved David out of Nebraska as well.. I think Shazier gives you a little more in the pass rushing/blitzing department.. but either way Shazier will be a top 3 WILL for a while

They aren't bad like Philip wheeler or anything but I still see at the college level more athlete than instincts...and so I see a pro ceiling that doesn't approach all pro level...solid 3 down lb sure although I bet he will be late on some stuff even when clean

If Miami goes receiver in round 1 Hickey will be a lost cause in my book.... Not even remotely close to a need... Like taking a quarterback in the first.

hoops you find it a little concerning that Mack was suspended for a fight with a teammate or is it just me? Especially during camp when it happened... hitting the same guy day in.. day out.. either he cold clocked the dude or the coach is a complete *****......

Lost cause how? What if he trades Hartline/Wallace? Even though a few here don't like Omar he did bring up a good suggestion, draft players who are going to push other players. A WR like Marqise Lee/OBJ is going to push and battle Wallace/Hartline, who the new GM might not have a plan for in the future, in training camp. Also depends on what you define as a "need". We "need" a physical type of receiver that is a.going to catch the ball anywhere its thrown and or b. be a deep threat.

A QB in the 1st would be absurd but could you imagine Manziel/Tannehill or Tannehill/Bridgewater battle it out in training camp? It would either push Tannehill to his limits or allow the better QB to win the job. Remember this is Hickey's first run as a GM; what you and I see as a need may be an afterthought to Dennis.

I don't care what Hickey does but with the receiver position you need to think ahead because they typically take time to develop, and thinking ahead to next season we may very well need at least one more WR. And if Wallace and Hartline both happen to turn into beasts and play their way into their giant contracts then you still can't have too many top receivers.

Very immature kid, suspended for the 2012 bowl game, lost playing time for the "throat slash" this year.. Highly inconsistent won't live up to physical attributes. How can you have academic issues when literally every assignment is done for you in study hall?

Getting suspended for academic purposes doesn't equal baggage.

He didn't have his playing time cut at all, the next week at Wake Forrest he lined up next to Watkins play 1...

I don't have much to add to this but I absolutely love the conversation between futurescout and hoops. So much intel

Evans won't go later than the 10th pick....he's tall with great hands. I like Latimer, but I like Brandin Cooks even more, even if he is just 5'10". Cooks can be our next Mark Duper.
I would go Cooks as well. I just see him as a coverage nightmare, especially with the attention Wallace demands.
