And what exactly about that excites you???

NOTHING, I am just saying that there is a downside as well. Everyone automatically assumes that getting rid of Ireland will fix everything, when in fact we COULD end up with someone far worse.

(Skipping 2013 because it is too soon to rate)

If you look at the above drafts, there is no way you can say Ireland's drafts have been WORSE than the previous 7 years of drafts. Ireland is AVERAGE. Everyone before him was BELOW AVERAGE.
Thank you for making my point as to why our record is where it is. I don't care about where his drafted players are (and A LOT of those are no longer on the team)....I care about how those starters play. Also, we trade down to the number 3 spot for a player in a position we are already strong at for a guy who barely plays, when we have all these other glaring issues?

Personally, I think if we lose Sunday, we should cut our losses and start fresh with a new regime because I don't have faith in this coaching regime to be championship caliber. At the same time, I am a bit hesitant to quelch Tannehill's development by creating turmoil in the staff and front office.

You can never have enough passrushers. I have no doubt that the Jordan pick will benefit us greatly down the road. Wake is older, Jordan will learn from under the best and we will have a suitable replacement. Pass rusher is a crucial position in this league. Big picture, taking Jordan was the RIGHT call.

Oh hey, another thread turned into an argument about Ireland. How shocking.

Its really hard to vote on this , because when a GM is fired 90% of the time the coaches , BOTH offence and Defence , are also gone , imo about the only ones that can be kept without everyone fired would be the GM , i mean i would love to keep Philbin , but its going to be hard to , because every new GM will want to bring in his own coaches .

So let me get this right, we were very bad and now we are below average, over the last 5 years.....we shouldn't try to get a better GM because you are worried about digressing from below average?

Considering how DIFFICULT it is to scrape yourself out of a cycle of BAD (as evidenced by 10 years of crap), yes, I am a little bit worried about going from AVERAGE (not below average. 7-9/8-8 is average considering the give or take a game or two nature of football wins and losses) to total crap again... With the QB in place, perhaps AVERAGE drafting is good enough.

Afterall, that seems to be the case for teams like New England and the Manning Colts... (those drafts aren't strong over the years, its the QB that makes them look decent)

I am really torn about the whole thing to be honest. Listen, I am tired of Ireland's mediocrity as well. And I really think the way he went into this season with the OL in the state it is was awful. But at the same time, I am fearful of taking a step back. To be honest, I don't know what I want other than a WIN on Sunday.

5 years is long enough and though we have improved in some areas......our offensive line and running game have got worse. He is not a GM that is going to lead us to the Superbowl and I think Philbin should be given a lot of credit for the crap heap he was handed with the O-Line. There is also a strong sentiment around the league that he is shaddy which is keeping players from coming here unless we over pay them or they are injured.

The Dolphins had the talent to have at least 4 more wins this season. Those losses were on coaching more than anything. (Ravens, Bills at home, Patriots away, Panthers at home). I know we had the talent to win those games because we were leading them until there were some questionable coaching decisions that came along to botch them... Philbin really doesn't deserve credit for anything because he is just as culpable for the Dolphins' issues. There is an argument to be made that he actually UNDER-performed with this roster.

True , but all those pass rushers that we have , most are becoming FA this year, and are going to be looking for big money , its going to be hard for us to contain all of them , but the young Defence players wont cost much on a rookie contract , so imo it was smart to grab a guy like jordan in the first rd , the only beef i have is that he needs to play more than he did , with where he was picked .

We were in those games due to coaching, not because of Ireland. Our O-Line is a joke....I am not sure about the running backs yet because our O-Line is so bad! Pouncey is the only legit starter on the line and he is playing the wrong position. Jeff Ireland is why we are .500 or less. To blame the offensive line on coaching is a bad joke.

Most important game in years. At 9-7 and a likely playoff berth the season would be viewed as success, and we would have a chance at a decent showing in the playoffs. Tannehill would bump in confidence and praise.

Lose this game and it's an avalanche in all directions. Everyone will dump on us, and it will be well earned. Scorn and doubts. Nobody will be immune. It's going to take that much to lose to the Jets and Geno Smith. What are the odds that Geno plays a tremendous game? To lose to that offense we'll have to look terrible, with everything at stake. Tannehill's reputation will slide.

It will impact the entire offseason and 2014 ticket sales. I don't see how Ross wouldn't make a move, starting with Ireland. Philbin isn't going anywhere.

As a gambler I'm more than willing to risk a 3-13 caliber replacement for Ireland, when it also includes a swing at a 13-3 type, instead of knowing I'm signing up for more years with a proven 7-9 clod with a pathetic personality. Jeff Ireland is the perfect personality for this stadium, like they were created with each other in mind. Jeff came first so it's his fault.

I'm seeing too much similarity between Jay Fiedler and Tanny-Hill.

Is it really asking too much of Ryan Tannehill to win 2 games against inferior talent?

Its not like we had to face the Colts, Broncos in our last two games.

If Tanny-Hill gets beat by Geno Smith, all options should be left open in the off season.

I'd love to read this comparison. Carry on.

I vote to keep together because I am tired of turnover. I am not a Joe guy, but I do not want to start over. Plus, I really do not want a forced marriage with Joe and another GM.

Best to keep it together, though I strongly question Joe's skills.

I agree.
