If the Dolphins lose to the Jets on Sunday, that will mean they dropped 2 crucial games against inferior opponents that kept us from the playoffs. After the Patriots victory, the Dolphins could get into the playoffs by winning the final 2 games.

If this nightmare scenario occurs, which option in the poll would you prefer and why? Who is most responsible for this failure?
How are you guys still calling us inferior when we swept you guys with Thad freaking Lewis?!?!? News flash bro......the Dolphins are on the same level as the Bills just a little more healthier then we were thru the season thats all!

Look, it's plain as day when this team was actually coached well, and it's easy to see the contrast when Parcells began stepping back into the shadows. It's very easy to identify a team that is well coached (good discipline, fewer idiotic penalties, good execution) versus one that maybe just plays hard at times. This team has some room to grow in the coaching staff, and it's upon Philbin to make these calls.
This team is currently in the 96th percentile in the league (i.e., performing better than all but 4% of NFL teams) with regard to yards lost per play due to penalties.

In 2008 Ronnie and Ricky had 14 TDs as compared to Lamar and Daniels 6. Also simple questions for you, do we win the AFC East in 2008 and go to the playoffs without the Wildcat? How was Pennington when the wildcat was not successful (or before it was brought in)? What was his over all record as a starter in the NFL?

If they lose I say clean house. No one likes to do it but you cannot keep bringing Ireland back off all the failed seasons (this is IF they lose to the jets). I wouldn't be completely against Philbin coming back but I don't want a new GM if he can't control the hiring of a coach. So by default I'd move on from both.

To be honest I don't hate or love Ireland, I'm kinda in between but he's had his chances here. Failed drafts picking in the 2nd through 4th rounds stands out like a sore thumb. Although he's done plenty good, the drafts plus the disaster of an oline after all the money spent on it over the years is gonna do him in.

I don't know for sure. Does anyone?

How was Pennington when the wildcat was not successful (or before it was brought in)?
His career QB rating to that point looks at first glance to have been about 90.

I vote to keep together because I am tired of turnover. I am not a Joe guy, but I do not want to start over. Plus, I really do not want a forced marriage with Joe and another GM.

Best to keep it together, though I strongly question Joe's skills.
I totally agree word for word. Couldn't have said it better myself. I do have one question though, for those who voted to can Ireland but keep Philbin, what if we won the last game, or would have won the last two, would that have changed your mind?? If so, do you not understand how out of touch with reality that is?? The GM is in charge of getting the players and the coach is in charge of getting the players to play winning football. The players are the same whether we win or lose, it is the coaching that is in charge of winning or losing. If you don't like the players then yes that is on the GM but you shouldn't like or dislike the players any more today than you will after Sunday. I have just never understood that sort of twisted logic.

Which proves my other point I have stated on here multiple times....A QBR and a ticket will get you in the movies. I think anyone with any common sense in this occasion can answer the first.

I am impatient and starting over puts us further behind in becoming relevant. That is why this weekend is important. Win, go 9-7 it can be at least argued as progress. Win and go to the playoffs, it is a great accomplishment and something to build on.

Neither one goes...........Don`t think Ross has the stones to get into termination issuses where it`s
not clear cut or debateable

I doubt even when the locker room report comes out there will be any kind of scenario
where a job could be in jeopardy

BTW................rest easy no way Geno beats Tanny sunday

I actually agree here, get in the playoffs and make some noise....maybe look at keeping him (probably will).

Chad Pennington, when he started at least 12 games, and was healthy for the majority of the season, has always led his team to the playoffs. I'm talking every time he was healthy, which coincidently, was literally every other year. And every other year, he'd lead his team to the playoffs. although the wildcat did help miami win some games, Chad Pennington is the king of accuracy. Miami needed both the wildcat and pennington to be on the dolphins, to make the playoffs in 2008.

Don't forget that in that season, the team had an MVP runner-up quarterback with a near-100 QB rating, which can compensate for lots of weaknesses elsewhere on a team.

Right now we're functioning with a developmental quarterback, who's still getting used to the game at this level. That's going to limit what the team can do in many ways.

Rather than viewing the quarterback as having untapped potential, I'd suggest we view the team as being made better than it is by a coaching staff that's getting the absolute most out of a developmental QB, while simultaneously being limited in significant ways by that QB at the present time.

I agree with this 100% and would add that I think they are more concerned with grooming Tannehill for the future than short term wins. That doesn't mean they are throwing games away, more taking risks that will still allow Tannehill to win games but if he fails he'll (hopefully) be better for it next season.

Fire Sherman, give Ireland a chance to fix the OL and try and keep this defense from falling apart with all those FAs. If Philbin and Ireland get it done next year we are good if not can it all.

Sounds like you agreeing with me yet you kill me for being negative on other threads...SMH.

I don't, I think the Phins will win and would definitely put money on them if it was a pick'em. The fact of the matter is we're not a great team and can lose any given week for any number of reasons, especially against a divisional rival. You, on the other hand, are predicting a loss with the specific reason that Joe Philbin is slithering around the locker room doing everything in his power to get the least out of each and every player...

I'm not worried about us, I'm more worried we'll need the Chargers to win and McKoy will lose to KC's backups to their backups even with Rivers playing the game of his life.
